Sushi Zanmai Desa Parkcity

Our usual dinner place has always been either a lunch leftover at home, or we would be getting something simple from the nearby seafood restaurant. However, on a weekend when the home minister a.k.a. that catholic girl abstaining, we have a chance to visit other restaurant that serve fish.

Sushi Zanmai is one of the major sushi restaurant chain, that usually goes with their famous pasta restaurant Pasta Zanmai hand in hand. Some of the unique outlet, like the one we're visiting in Desa Park City Waterfront is a combo restaurant. The front part of the restaurant is called Pasta Zanmai, and the back is Sushi Zanmai. And here is my chawanmushi mushroom steamed eggs.

What I like about their chawanmushi is, they put enough mushroom slices, and the price tag is NOT outrageous. In Malaysia, any of those boutique Japanese restaurant, their chawanmushi is easily RM10 each. The only cheaper ones from Sushi King and Sushi Mentai, but their portion and ingredients are a direct reflect from the price tag. This, only cost me RM5.

Green tea are refillable. They will give you a jar of green tea to refill. Technically, if you're one person sitting there, even if you finished the jar and ask for another one, they are more than happy to serve you another jar. Since I have a "small" family, we only ordered 2 to share.

My usual sushi shop ritual is garlic fried rice. I usually do this is because the rice is filling. You'll be asking, aren't we in a Sushi shop? Why are there fried rice? Well, in Malaysia, Japanese restaurant has to be GENERIC 😂 they usually can do robataya, teppanyaki at the same time. So, it's a one stop experience.

Junior ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl. Kids nowadays knows how to enjoy their food by poking the runny eggs will result in the egg yolk being flow into the rice.

Girl got a katsu don, fried chicken, eggs, onions, mushroom slices and rice. I am a mushroom guy, but she's not. She doesn't like the earthy smells of a mushroom, so I'm lucky to have the mushroom slices she picked out from the bowl.

Home minister ordered a bowl of broccoli and salmon rice. I am a long time supporter of deep fried broccoli. Little do I expect to have it in a Japanese restaurant. Amazing!

Last but not least, my salmon fish head is here. There's usually two types of recipe, one being teriyaki soy sauce, the other being the syoyaki salt baked type. I used to eat the teriyaki version but nowadays I prefer the syoyaki.
