Menjalara is a small township in Kuala Lumpur, very well known with the steamboat. However, lately it has been flourishing with new retro style coffee shops. We came out from the church and had a hard time deciding what to eat for dinner, google sent us here.

There's no real old story about this coffee shop, it's new, but retro decoration. Even the menu looks somewhat like the 80s newspaper. Most of the items in the menu are fusion stuff. I like the way they do away with the country names. Take polo buns for example, most restaurants like to address it as Hong Kong Polo Bun. We all know these buns are not imported, and we all know Hong Kong is famous for Polo Bun. Don't have to keep on mentioning the menu to remind me you're selling a Hong Kong recipe.

The local mocha is the version of very thick local coffee mixed with Milo. If you like this kind of stuff, they gave it a different name 虎咬狮, translate as tiger bite lion. Don't ask me how they came up with that name. I only know it's tasty.

Junior is a bread king. He can eat bread the whole day, and his latest favorite is kaya butter toast. I got myself a bowl of curry Chee cheong fun(it's just flat noodle). I love the fact that they throw in 2 huge fish balls, a bunch of fried onions, and also some crunchy deep fried beancurd.

Finally, the very well known Penang style rojak, a sort of fruit salad blend in local salad sauce that is made of fermented shrimp paste. This thing is radical, the smell and the taste can be as wicked as roadkill.

Overall, the food price is NOT cheap, but it's still slightly below most retro style coffee shops. Taste wise, I can't give anything above average, but it's definitely NOT in the ban list. There are several items I'd like to come back and try, so let's keep my fingers crossed and hope to find some special and unforgettable food from this restaurant.
