Cymbalaria muralis flowers

La Cymbalaria muralis è una pianta erbacea autoctona perenne, ha un portamento prostrato oppure rampicante in base alle superfici dove cresce. Predilige infatti le crepe di rocce, muri, fessure di ogni tipo, l'importante è assicurargli un posto ombreggiato e con un'umidità medio/alta. Non è difficile trovarla infatti anche lungo i margini boschivi, portandosi anche oltre i 1.300 m.s.l.m.

La Cymbalaria è una pianta stolonifera dove le radici avventizie si dipartono lungo i nodi del fusto. Proprio per questa sua capacità di adattamento al clima, sia collinare che montano, e grazie anche alla facilità con cui si propaga, potete trovare questa pianta quasi in tutto il mondo. Seppur "infestante", è troppo bella per essere strappata via.

I fiori, anche se piccoli sono molto appariscenti e curiosi, si dipartono dall'ascella fogliare e quelli non fecondi seguono la luce del sole tramite il fototropismo.
Quando il fiore viene impollinato, esso ruota verso il buio, in tal modo quando il frutto sarà pronto, si aprirà disperdendo i semi lungo il suo substrato, in questo caso i semi cadranno tra le crepe del muro.
