El día de hoy vengo a contarles un poco sobre lo que ha sido mi experiencia realizando un servicio comunitario como terapeuta ocupacional

Today I am here to tell you a little about my experience performing community service as an occupational therapist.

Comenzando el año 2023 en la universidad nos convocaron para una reunión en donde se nos informó que debíamos realizar un servicio comunitario en alguna institución de nuestra comunidad por un tiempo determinado y con el nivel académico que quisiéramos. Yo automáticamente pensé en la escuela en la que curse toda mi primaria y parte de la secundaria así que sin dudarlo, fui a preguntar si podía trabajar ahí. Después de algunas charlas con la directora y reencuentros emotivos con mis viejas maestras pude iniciar esta nueva experiencia.

At the beginning of the year 2023, we were called to a meeting at the university where we were informed that we had to perform a community service at an institution in our community for a certain period of time and with the academic level we wanted. I automatically thought of the school where I attended all my elementary school and part of high school, so without hesitation, I went to ask if I could work there. After some talks with the principal and emotional reunions with my old teachers, I was able to start this new experience.

Me asignaron los tres niveles de preescolar con el proyecto manos a la siembra en el cual nos centramos en actividades donde pudieran trabajar la motricidad fina, la atención, la concentración y seguimiento de instrucciones a través de actividades como dibujar, conversar sobre la siembra, rasgar papelitos, conocer texturas de las semillas y hojas y por supuesto sembrar a lo cual ellos respondieron de manera curiosa y activa.

I was assigned the three preschool levels with the hands on planting project in which we focused on activities where they could work on fine motor skills, attention, concentration and following instructions through activities such as drawing, talking about planting, tearing papers, learning about the textures of seeds and leaves and of course planting, to which they responded in a curious and active way.

Para su actividad de la siembra que viene siendo en centro de todo el proyecto quise hacerlo lo mas especial para ellos. Para esto, los hice participe de toda el proceso, haciendo un cartel para que con su nombre indicaran de quien era cada planta y así tuvieran sentido de pertenencia, la siembra en si donde tuvieron que abrir huequitos en la tierra y colocar la semilla y el riego de la planta, explicándoles cada cuanto había que regarlas y finalizando con una charla sobre lo importante que es la siembra.

For their planting activity, which is at the center of the whole project, I wanted to make it as special as possible for them. For this, I made them participate in the whole process, making a poster so that with their name they could indicate who each plant belonged to and thus have a sense of belonging, the planting itself where they had to open holes in the ground and place the seed and watering the plant, explaining how often they had to water them and ending with a talk about how important planting is.

Este proyecto me mostro lo lindo que es trabajar con niños pequeños y lo gratificante que es verlos aprender. Espero vivir más experiencias como estas

This project showed me how nice it is to work with young children and how rewarding it is to watch them learn. I hope to have more experiences like this.
