I have often observed this behavior of birds when the earth is being worked with machines that dig up and bring to the surface all sorts of small creatures. I have not seen, nor did I think that egrets, which are shy waterfowl in my opinion, would be so brave to win food.

I am glad that you could also see it, and yes, the egrets over here can get up to many things. We have many egret species over here, the great egret, yellow billed egret, snowy egret, little egret, western cattle egret, and the slaty egret. They belong to the heron family.

I know that birds from Romania also migrate to South Africa to winter, such as storks, I think.
They call it a birders paradise for photographers.
