Those pics remind me a lot of the Lüneburger Heide, which is kind-of-close, in Lower Saxony/Niedersachsen. We went there several times for biology excursions while I was studying close by, in Lüneburg. Thanks for bringing back those memories, hadn't thought about those times quite a while!
Do you know if the Kalmthoutse Heide is maintained as well by sheep and such? Or do they use a different technique?

Nice! You're welcome!
I've never been to Lüneberg myself. Yes, the Kalmthoutse Heide is maintained by sheep as well. The same goes for the Posbank in the Netherlands. We had a mobile home near the Posbank for a couple of years.
I miss having a mobile home... My father always had one, changed them out over the years, but always had one available to borrow. For festivals, trips and such. We did that from small on, and when I finally got my license, we did a tour together that I drove the whole way, for him to make sure that I got it all. And off I went. First trip was the Hurricane Festival in Niedersachsen, I still remember that one very well :-D
