Hello everyone

Lately, I haven’t had much chance to go out and explore, mostly because long-distance travel often leaves me feeling exhausted. However, during a recent trip to visit my mother in Tak Province, I managed to stop at a few cafés along the way.

One café in particular really stood out — a place I’d been wanting to visit ever since I saw it on TikTok. It’s called O2 Kaffee & Bistro, and after watching a few reviews, I became determined to go there someday.

Well, that “someday” finally arrived. The long journey to Tak — about 1,300 kilometers — gave me a perfect excuse to take a break along the way. And so, I made a special stop to enjoy a meal at O2 Kaffee & Bistro before continuing my trip. 🌿🍴

When I visited, the rain was falling lightly — just enough to make the air feel cool and refreshing. ☔ After parking the car, I walked into the café, which is divided into two main zones.

The first zone is an air-conditioned indoor area, but I wasn’t really interested in that. I had already made up my mind — I wanted to sit outdoors, where I could enjoy the beautiful garden views and soak in the natural atmosphere.

What makes this café truly unique is its location in the middle of a coconut orchard. The narrow canals you see here aren’t just for decoration — they were originally used to water the trees and transport coconuts.

The owners had the clever idea of transforming the orchard into a café while keeping the natural charm intact. Now, instead of farmers paddling coconuts along the water, you’ll find visitors floating gently by in round little boats.

These boats — known as "basket boats" — are said to originate from Vietnam, and here they’re offered free of charge for guests to enjoy. It’s a brilliant way to blend fun, culture, and nature into one experience. 🥥🚣‍♀️

The moment I stepped into the outdoor area, I was greeted by rows of cozy bamboo huts surrounded by lush coconut trees and narrow canals. The air smelled fresh, and the gentle rain only added to the charm.

Each seating area is like a small floating pavilion with floor cushions and a low wooden table — a perfect setting to relax and enjoy a slow meal close to nature. The colorful umbrellas overhead added a playful splash of color to the serene green surroundings. 🌴🎨

There’s a soft murmur of the nearby water and the distant chatter of people enjoying their meals. I felt like I had stepped into a little hidden paradise, far away from the stress of travel.

Once I had picked my seat, a friendly staff member brought over the menu. There were so many delicious-looking dishes that I found it almost impossible to choose — everything looked so tempting!

In the end, I decided to go with my gut (quite literally 😄) and ordered several dishes to try. It didn’t take long before the food started arriving at my table, and the first one completely won me over.

It was a plate of crispy battered young coconut, deep-fried until golden brown and served with a flavorful seafood-style dipping sauce — complete with shrimp and minced pork. It was absolutely delicious and unlike anything I’d ever tasted before. 🥥🔥

Next up was a classic Thai favorite — fried rice with chili paste, served with a crispy fried mackerel and a variety of fresh vegetables on the side.

The flavors were well-balanced — a little spicy, a little salty, and deeply satisfying. It felt like a homemade meal full of comfort and warmth. I really enjoyed this dish! 🍚🐟🌶️

And this bowl — it’s something truly special: Tom Yum with tender coconut shoots. 🌴🍲

Since this café used to be an actual coconut plantation (and still maintains many of the trees), it’s no surprise that coconut-based ingredients feature in many of their dishes.

The soup was aromatic and rich, with a spicy and sour kick that hit all the right notes. The young coconut shoots added a gentle crunch and a natural sweetness that balanced the flavors perfectly. It was both comforting and refreshing at the same time.

There was one more dish that truly made my day — something I haven’t eaten in a very long time. As soon as I saw it on the menu, I knew I had to order it right away.

It was fermented king mackerel dip — known in Thai as "Lon Pla Insee" — served with a generous selection of fresh vegetables. 🐟🥬

The dip was creamy, slightly salty, and full of depth, pairing beautifully with the crisp veggies. It brought back so many memories, and I was honestly surprised to find such a traditional dish at a modern garden café like this. What a delicious and nostalgic treat!

To end the meal on a sweet note, I couldn’t decide on just one dessert — so I ordered both: a scoop of young coconut ice cream and a slice of orange cake. 🍨🍊

In the end, I couldn’t finish everything — there was simply too much food — but I was happy just to have tasted everything I had been craving.

Each dish brought its own charm, and this sweet finale was the perfect way to wrap up a wonderful meal surrounded by nature.

Looking back, I’m so glad I made time to visit O2 Kaffee & Bistro during my long journey. It wasn’t just about the food — though everything I tried was incredibly delicious — but also about the atmosphere, the thoughtful design, and the peaceful vibe that made me feel like I had truly taken a break.

From the coconut groves to the paddle boats, from traditional Thai flavors to playful desserts — everything blended together in a way that felt both authentic and refreshing.

If you’re ever traveling near Samut Sakhon, I highly recommend stopping by this café. Come hungry, come curious, and take your time soaking in the beauty of this hidden gem. 🌴☕💚

Turning a plantation into a restaurant while preserving the old water channels is very beautiful and clever, it shows how rural tourism can preserve old things instead of tearing everything down, I really like that they’ve added those boats for people to use for free, as it gives people another way to get around and entertain themselves. Those bamboo huts floating on the real canals give you that authentic connection to the land that most theme parks try to copy but never achieve and putting coconut shoots and fresh coconut in the food makes a lot of sense when you’re eating right where the ingredients grow, part of the experience instead of destroying it to create something completely different, thx for sharing
