Mie Gacoan, Number 1 Spicy Noodle in Indonesian
What do you like when you eat? Do you prefer sweet, salty, spicy or savory food? There are so many types of food in this world with various flavors, but for the taste it definitely depends on our taste. This is triggered by our habits from childhood to adulthood. For me, spicy food is my favorite. Spicy and savory became the first choice when I wanted to order food from a restaurant or cook it myself. I like spicy and savory because my mother used to make food for us as a family.
Spicy and savory foods are often found in restaurants, almost all delicious foods in this world are dominated by spicy and savory, for example rendang, fried rice, even pasta and noodles. It's very rare for noodles with a sweet taste, it will taste strange.
By the way, if we talk about noodles, there is a noodle restaurant that has just been launched in Medan. This restaurant has actually been around for a long time in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Bali, Bandung and many other cities on the island of Java. People's enthusiasm for this restaurant is very much, he said the taste of the noodles in this restaurant is very good.
Mie Gacoan, located on Jl. Dr Mansyur is close to the University of North Sumatra, it only takes a 5 minute walk if you live near USU, the place is very big and you will quickly know where this restaurant is. Lots of people are willing to queue to get a seat to eat at this restaurant or just take away. There's nothing to lose by jostling for good food. But very tiring.
At the first start of this restaurant's grand launching, without any promos, lots of customers were queuing up to eat here. Not only that, online motorcycle taxis who receive food delivery orders queue long, even the very large parking lot is filled with busy people. Tirelessly basking in the slightly torturous sun.
I also stopped my steps to try to buy Gacoan Noodles, even though I was very curious about the taste, which is often fyp on tiktok and is viral on various social media, I can't stand queuing with so many people. I decided to buy it when it started to subside. But apparently, there are still many people who buy gacoan noodles, the more curious, right, I occasionally pass by this restaurant and hope it's empty of visitors, finally after 2 months, I came when it was a little quiet, at least the queue wasn't too long.
Thankfully I got a seat very quickly, the employees seemed very nimble to drown out the crowd. Chairs and tables are immediately cleaned when a customer has finished eating and continues with other customers. The ordering system here is also good, we are required to order food at the cashier and pay for it first and will get a payment receipt, then the waiters will bring our order to be delivered to the customer's table. No need to wait long for the food to come, I only waited 5-10 minutes for our order to arrive completely.
Mie gacoan has several special menus, such as Mie Angel, Mie Devil and Mie Setan. These three types of noodles have different flavors. I ordered devil noodles with spicy level 8. This level is the highest among others, with a spicy and savory taste it will be very fun to eat 1 serving of devil noodles.
This is my first time trying gacoan noodles, my choice turned out to be very right, it tastes so good with maximum savory and spicy taste. Even though my husband said my food was too spicy and maybe I couldn't enjoy the food, but for me it really suits my taste. There are so many chilies on my plate, it feels like 100 grams of jalapeno chili is used for the chili.
One thing I like, on the plate there are not only noodles and chili, we are also given 2 dumpling crackers with grated chicken inside. This is a complete protein flavor enhancer, it looks like dumpling crackers should be sold separately.
You will be surprised if you know the price of food at this gacoan noodle restaurant, the price is less than 1 dollar per serving, with this very complete and delicious taste, gacoan noodles make an unreasonable price in the midst of inflation. Even for 1 glass of cold sweet tea, it's only 4,000 rupiah, with 1 dollar you will get 4 glasses of sweet tea including tax. No wonder gacoan noodles are never empty of visitors.
Looks like I'll eat here often if I have to be frugal, even cheaper than cooking at home. It's great to have a restaurant that understands the current predicament. LOL.

Modern looking place, affordable price, but the queue does remind of an amusement park or something, and it seems they've placed too many tables in such a small space, probably makes conversation difficult. Well, if that placed opened here though, I wouldn't complain because Indonesian restaurants are rare in Cambodia 😁.
This restaurant is not designed to hang out, like kfc and mcd. Very noisy, if you want to chat with friends, you should find another restaurant so that other customers can take turns to eat.
