Granola
Hello everyone,
As a diabetic, I now realize how important it is to measure the daily calories I consume. If I flashback, I eat too many foods that are high in calories and low in fiber every day, I don't even understand how important serving sizes and macronutrients are for my body.
I realized that a lot of the snacks that I often ate were poison for my body, it didn't stop there, it turned out that my knowledge about food nutrition was very low, so that made it too late for me to realize a healthy life.
One of the causes of my excessive daily calorie consumption is consuming unhealthy snacks, such as fried foods. I didn't understand that fried foods have very high calories because they are processed in a deep fried manner, moreover every fried food must be covered with flour which is high in gluten. When the flour is fried, all the oil will be absorbed and of course the fat will increase which makes the calories of a food soar very high.
I realized that when my friends discussed about the dangers of fried foods, because fried foods are one of my favorite snacks. You know, that the taste of bakwan and fried bananas is very delicious, especially when accompanied by hot coffee in the afternoon. Everything is a simple pleasure of the world. Apart from that, fried food is an easy snack to find in Indonesia, and the price is also cheap for middle-income groups.
After knowing this fact, I started thinking about changing my daily snack to make it even better. There are lots of kinds of healthy snacks if we work hard to make them, or we can also buy them, they are easy to get, but unfortunately, healthy and low calorie snacks are very expensive in Indonesia. Almost all healthy and low calorie snacks are imported from other countries, the lack of awareness of health is indeed very low in my country, it's a waste to live healthy, to live well enough is very difficult.
Well, I found an interesting snack, when I went to the supermarket yesterday, I found a healthy snack that is high in fiber, low in fat and has high nutrition. Granola, I like this snack since 3 months ago, I also just found out about it. It tastes good, sweet and has a crunchy texture, I'm so addicted to granola. But unfortunately, the price of granola is enough to make my pocket scream, because almost all granola is imported food which is quite expensive.
The price of granola reaches 3 dollars per 50 gr, quite expensive isn't it? It didn't make me give up, I found out how to make granola. Wait, it turns out that granola is very easy to make yourself at home. Learning from social media and the internet made me learn a lot about making granola, it's been a month since I've never bought granola again. I can save a lot of money on it, besides that, the granola that I consume is fresh and healthy, because I know what ingredients I use, I also adapt it to my needs.
I'm going to share the recipe with you, so that I'm not the only one who can enjoy granola, you can also create healthy snacks for your family, friends or for yourself. Especially for those who are wanting to change their lifestyle to make it even better, the onslaught of degenerative diseases is already very high, so we have to deal with it so we can live longer.
Ingredients;
- 100 gr Instant oats (I recommend using rolled oats for a crunchier texture)
- 25 gr Pumpkin seeds
- 25 gr of cashew nuts
- 25 gr sunflower seeds
- 30 ml maple syrup
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 20 gr raisins
How to make Granola;
- Pour instant oats in a large bowl, then sprinkle cocoa powder and maple syrup. (if you don't have maple syrup, you can use palm sugar or coconut sugar).
- Stir the ingredients evenly, then rest a few minutes.
- Enter all other ingredients including; pumpkin seed, cashew nuts, sunflower seed and raisins, mix well and combine with the main ingredients.
- Preheat the oven for 15 minutes, then pour all the dough into the oven tray, you can also line it with baking paper, I smoothed the instant oats a little and added a little water so that the granola formed and didn't break down.
- Bake for 20-30 minutes, just adjust as needed, at 200 degrees Celsius.
- Granola is ready to be served!
See you the next time hive friends!
