The Twin of Spring Onion Called Chives

Looks like grass leaves at first? Please pay close attention. These green leaves, which have an onion aroma but are milder than spring onions, are what we call chives.
Have you ever found this type of vegetable in the market where you live? I call this type of vegetable is the twin of spring onions.
The leaves look more like green grass because the tips are getting thinner. Also a bit rough. Meanwhile, spring onions have a slightly slippery leaf surface.
At the root there is a white bulb like white onion. But this part we don't eat (at least this is what my family and I usually do). If you have any information or experience about white bulbs, you can let me know and I would really appreciate it.
The taste is milder than spring onions, it makes chives used as salads or garnishes. Meanwhile, where I live, we only make stir-fry with tofu. That's popular recipe here. I will share the recipe for this one later in the next blog.
So, what do you know about chives? Maybe you have visited a Chinese restaurant and met authentic chives. I hope you guys have a nice experience about food.

I always use batak onions to make arsik! It tastes good, but not everyone likes it :D
My fav is stir fry with yellow tofu 😋
It's also very tasty! Eaten with warm rice and omelette at the same time :D
Hello my friend, Angg! ♥️
These green onion "chives" are a regular purchase in my household. I also chop off the tops and dice them for use in recipes calling for chives. Adds delicious flavor!🌱🔪👩🍳
As for the white bulbs, that actually is my favorite part of the onion. I chop off the roots, slice the small onion bulbs as one would a full size onion, separate the slices with the tip of a knife and add it to fresh salads, soups or whatever I'm preparing that is enhanced by onions. 🥗♨️🍵♨️🍜
Hope this helps.🙌
Sending you a big hug! @anggreklestari🤗
Whoooa, that's info really help me. At least, I knew what I can do with that.
But for now, I started to replanting them ❤️
Hug you dear 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Yes, that is a very smart thing to do so you always have fresh green tops readily available! You can also resprout celery and "stalky" vegetables in the same way!💧🌱🌾💧
It is one of my favorite herbs, here in Venezuela it is also called cebollín, there is one that is bigger, it is the one you see most often here, but I love the smaller one, its flavor is incredible.
Yeah the flavor is incredible autentic :)
Hi @anggreklestari, in my country Venezuela is a vegetable (dressing) widely used to prepare various dishes mainly stews and soups, also used to make creams of celery, pumpkin, eggplant and more, sometimes it is added to the salad and the flavor it brings is very delicious.
Greetings!
Hello dear friend @anggreklestari good day
The chive is one of those vegetables that we can buy in the vegetable market, but to be honest, I had never tried it, I did not know that they were softer than traditional onions
have a beautiful weekend
