The Charm of Dining In The City Forest
I've always been drawn to green things, and you've probably seen it on my blog without me explaining it further. This passion naturally leads me to that green world, even in unexpected ways.
I love wandering in search of greenery, or even surprising me when the universe sends me signals to come to certain places so I can find greenery that's good for calming me down.
Yogyakarta is the closest small city to where I live, accessible by the inexpensive commuter train. So, when my mind is busy and I want to find various ideas, especially for my content, I go to Jogja.
On this trip, I found a cafe in the middle of the city. But the atmosphere is so beautiful, you wouldn't believe it's in the middle of the city. Once you see the inside of the cafe, you'll be surprised.
I walked from Yogyakarta Station to this cafe, with the name clearly written on the front of the building: "A Cup of Tugu Lor Java".
From the front of the cafe, you can already see several lush trees. Visitors enter through the side door.
The front of the cafe may look like a small building. But once you enter, you're greeted by a shady forest-like atmosphere.
The cafe's seating is divided into indoor and outdoor areas. There's only a small amount of seating indoors, while the rest is mostly outdoors, allowing visitors to experience the pleasant atmosphere of an urban forest.
The benches and tables are arranged under the trees. The air is cool and often humid. It's like being in a forest, and I can clearly smell the woody scent of the trees.
I think this is a great place for a pre-wedding photoshoot for couples who want to immortalize their love in a calming and magical setting.
Well, let's see what I ordered for lunch. The cafe offers a fairly diverse menu, including coffee and popular local dishes.
But this time, I wanted lunch here, not just for the coffee. So, I just ordered rice. I ordered dori rice with kaffir lime leaves. This one is a favorite on the menu.
I love how the spicy seasoning blends with the unique fragrance of the kaffir lime leaves. Meanwhile, the crunchy dori fish has a meaty texture that isn't overcooked.
At $1.50 for this rice bowl, it's very affordable. And I get to enjoy the nice urban jungle atmosphere.
This cafe also has a classic look with several building accents behind it. Like an old house that has now been converted to sell typical Yogyakarta batik.
That's a good thing. So visitors from out of town who want to browse or wear traditional Yogyakarta batik can browse the shop in the area behind this cafe.
Overall, this urban jungle is well-maintained for a cafe. There are no annoying animals or small insects because the place is clean. So, would you also visit here if you have the chance?
