Musang King 猫山王

It’s been almost half a year since my last durian experience, and I was excited to try out the offerings at Sinnacoo Durian Specialist, together with @joannewong. Finding parking was the hardest part, as the area was crowded with restaurants that had recently reopened.

We began with the Tekak (竹脚) durian, which was recommended by the staff. This species has small seeds, making it easy to eat with lots of flesh. It was priced at RM 27/kg and had a smooth texture, soft flesh, and a sweet taste that wasn’t overly creamy.

Next, we tried the XO durian, which is known for its alcohol-like flavor. The texture was tight and ready to burst when eaten, with a slightly bitter taste compared to the Tekak. The alcohol flavor was strong, and it was priced at RM 25/kg. Lastly, we tried the Musang King (猫山王), which is a well-known and popular variety. Compared to the last Musang King we had, this one didn’t quite live up to our expectations, but it was definitely cheaper at RM 48/kg.

Overall, my experience at Sinnacoo Durian Specialist was a good one. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the durian was fresh and of high quality, as always when I visit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious durian experience.

Note: Now is the end of the durian season, the next season starts around June - August.

Ah, Durian, the Marmite of the far east. I'm one of those people that can't stand the smell. I have involuntary convulsions just putting my nose near it.

On the other hand, Durian flavoured desserts I'm a big fan of.

Nice to see it pictured nicely here though :)

The thing is once the fruit is dropped from the tree, the fermentation has started and that causes the smell. So the longer it is unopened, the stronger the fermentation smell becomes.

Many have testified if you actually tasted a freshly dropped durian will have a coconut flower liquor fragrance, and that experience of course comes with a special price if you are at the tourist area.

Durian flavoured desserts maybe it's toned down version, that's why different. Durian coffee on the other hand is voila stronggg.

Thanks for dropping by @elmerlin.

Oh it has been sooooo long since me and my parents has durian. Actually I wanted to find out if there's a D110 durian that was recommended in iChang channel when they visited the Musang King ochard.

Furthermore the last I tried was Black Musang King. I has a trace of bitter compared to the creamy original MK, but still as good

@littlenewthings D110 maybe up north have it since is from Perak. I didn't notice here have sell maybe due to not much harvest to sell at retail or just on Orchard itself...
