Immerse Yourself in the Heart of Kota Kinabalu at Gaya Street Sunday Market

Gaya Street Sunday Market in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, is a must-visit destination for both tourists and locals. After three years returning back, it still feels fresh and exciting. Held every Sunday, the market is open from early morning until late afternoon, providing a vibrant hub of local culture, food, and shopping.
Visitors can find an array of locally made handicrafts, traditional textiles, plants and souvenirs. Additionally, there are many food stalls serving a delicious selection of authentic local dishes, including traditional Malaysian cuisine and indigenous specialties such as Tenom Coffee.
At the market, you can experience the local culture and interact with friendly locals. Haggling with vendors is a common practice, so don't be shy to negotiate for a better price. The streets surrounding the market are closed to traffic, making it a safe and comfortable place to wander and explore. The market is easily accessible on foot from the city center or via a short Grab ride.
