My trip to Volendam
Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you have a weekend so far which has brought a lot of joy into your life! In this article I would like to share something about a travel experience with you and I am happy if you like my contribution.
During my time in Amsterdam I have experienced some exciting things but everyone who has ever been there will know that it is partly very touristy and that is why I have decided to make excursions outside. Someone local has recommended to me that I should definitely visit the old fishing village of Volendam, which is located in the northern part of the country and already has a centuries-old history behind it. To get there from the centre of Amsterdam, a distance of about 25 km has to be covered and I can only recommend every visitor to the city to spend a day here and some even ride here by bike. Without fishing or agriculture, the area would probably never have developed like this, but a lot has changed for the inhabitants in recent decades and even if fishing is still important, tourism has also gained a lot of influence. It's known for the historical sights as well as the rich culture to which the harbour, museum, music or unique architecture belong and I would also describe the whole village as very artistic.
Right after my arrival, I first visited the museum, which showcases the culture very well and teaches visitors pretty much everything about the history or the traditional life of people. It's not quite that big and the visit lasts about 30 minutes and then I went to the harbour and passed the well-known cheese factory on the way there, which is also a museum that should definitely be visited! There is also the possibility to taste the cheese here and also the museum is very interestingly furnished and shows the traditional process of production. On the way to the harbour I could also admire a lot of the traditional architecture which can also be very interesting for photographers and before I forget, it is important to mention that mills can also be seen in the area even if these are not as widespread here as in Zaanse Schans.
I used the day even more and drove from the port to Marken, which is also a traditional village that was until the middle of the 20th century still an island of its own and now belongs to the mainland. Also here it can be very worthwhile to make a trip by bike or as I with the ferry and the trip was really comfortable and in the ferry there is the possibility to buy a snack or something to drink and I can in any case recommend to buy the round trip ticket to save, but it should always be noted that the ferries only run at certain times and this can also vary according to the number of visitors or day. I will tell you a little more about my time in Marken in the future, but there is also a lot of culture to experience here and I can only recommend everyone to take the time and explore both places and it's a good day trip and the advantage is that visitors from Amsterdam do not have to drive so far to explore these great facets of the traditional Netherlands.
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new and like my post! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.

Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
If I'm not wrong it's famous for the cheese, it seems like a niche city for tourism, not a big one
Holland is generally well known for its cheese and also in this village it plays a important role.
I actually thought the stuffs in the first picture were shea butter 🙈
Hope you enjoyed your stay at Volendam?
Yes I did, it was a perfect change to the big city
