Exploring the Paper Mill in Basel

Hello everyone, I hope you have a day so far which is full of interesting experiences! In my post today I would like to write something about an experience I made in the city of Basel and hope you like my contribution.

On the first day when I was in the city, I decided to visit a historic paper mill in which it revolves around everything that has to do with printing, paper, writing or other relevant topics in this area. It's a really diverse museum and every visitor gets their money's worth here and in addition to this diverse exhibition, the museum is already inviting and located in an old mill from the Middle Ages and offers also some interactive attractions. There is a total of four floors in which production facilities can be found and also everything about the history is taught with numerous exhibitions. There is something for young or old people here and a highlight will probably be that visitors can produce or refine their own paper and before this happens, the traditional production process is also explained by employees and visitors can then empathise with the history themselves.

Most of the production facilities that are housed here are fully functional and have even made it together with the mill on the list of monument protection, which means that this important historical part of Basel is well protected. Before the mill was created during the 15th century, it was once a hammer forge and the museum itself is existing since the end of the 20th century and is now one of the best known museums which is located in the district of Basel in St. Alban. The entrance costs 20 CHF which moves in a fair range for everything what is offered and the mill can be visited all week except Monday. A visit lasts about two to three hours and due to the offered variety, I particularly liked the museum and a unique thing is also that visitors can actively immerse themselves into the history and of course the self-created souvenirs can also be taken home.
