#GRATEFULVIBES - ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE/WEEKLY THOUGHTS - 10 APR 2023 - 16 APR 2023

Good morning, Steemians! 😊 Hive-ians! 😊
image.png
The snow is starting to melt, here comes spring. 😊
image.png
How many squirrels can you find in this photo? Hint, there are more than two. 😊
image.png
This lovely lass is our neighbour’s hen Jemima. She’s been hanging out in our barn with her best friend Phyllis and their rooster Jack, also our neighbours, and our bull Prince Lee all winter. She lays greenish/blue eggs and we’re hoping the five of her eggs we have in the incubator all hatch out, or if the power outage from last week messed those eggs up, we still have a chance to have a few of her eggs hatching under Phyllis out in the barn. 😊
image.png
Some of our pretty sunset colours this week. 😊
image.png
Handsome Jack (our neighbour’s rooster) and Jemima hanging out in the barn. 😊
image.png
I managed to catch 4 of the 5 squirrels that were hanging out with us in this picture. 😊
image.png
Pigeons coming in for a landing. 😊
image.png
These chicks are so soft, they are too fast for me, and I haven’t gotten to cuddle them all. I have managed to cuddle Pansy (foreground right), Cappuccino (the third white/yellow bird towards the back on the left), Floyd (the dark one beside Cappuccino and Dot (the one along the back of the brooder box with the black spot on her wings and back,) so far. I’m working on the others still, don’t worry, I’ll get them to let me cuddle them eventually. 😊
image.png
I could never use my toes to hang on like this, heck I doubt I could do it with my fingers if I’m being totally honest. 😊
image.png
I can’t believe how quickly these cuties are growing. 😊
image.png
Our adult flock outside working on the garden for us. 😊
image.png
If you’ve never watched a group of young chicks playing “keep away” with treats, I would highly recommend it for your mental health. It’s a great way of wiling away your day and more entertaining than most television offerings these days. 😊
image.png
The Blackbirds and Red-winged Blackbirds returned this week. 😊
image.png
The rhubarb waking back up. 😊
image.png
My handsome husband added logs last week and this week he added some compost and grass clumps for the chicks to practice their scratching skills in. They’ll be ahead of the class by the time it warms up enough for them to go out into the garden for the first time, but they’ll be ready. 😊
image.png
A second flock of Blackbirds and Red-winged Blackbirds showed up to join the first flock later in the week. 😊
image.png
Pansy getting her close-up. 😊
image.png
The mint is waking up. 😊
image.png
So is the lavender. 😊
image.png
Our handsome bull Prince Lee supervising the chickens as they work over in the garden. 😊
image.png
Our neighbour’s hen Phyllis has been broody for quite a while now and this week she hatched out her first egg beneath her out in the barn. 😊
image.png
There’s her first ever hatched egg, we’re going to call her Tweety. 😊
image.png
Pansy was the first chick to figure out how to come out and say hello. 😊
image.png
We think her furry feet are adorable. 😊
image.png
She’s got all kinds of personality and she’s a sweetheart too. 😊
image.png
The always pretty Nacho coming up to say hello yesterday while we were enjoying the Sabbath. 😊
image.png
After chatting with me for a few minutes, Nacho decided to go over and stretch out for some sunbathing fun on my handsome husband’s leg. 😊
image.png
She even took a quick nap on him. I think this is my favourite picture of her from the day. 😊
image.png
Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! 😊 I’m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. 😊 God bless you all. 😊 Have an awesome week everyone! 😊

I think the ones with feathering on the feet are silkies or silky crosses. Hard to believe they are getting wing feathers already! Love their play area!

I can’t believe lavender survives up there! It hasn’t here in decades.

Love the squirrel nap….

Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! 😊

That's what we think they are as well, we weren't positive and I keep forgetting to ask my neighbour when he comes over to visit his chickens. He's working on his new coop now that the snow is gone from his driveway, though we did try to warn him that the snow may return, as we are in Atlantic Canada and the weather is unpredictably predictable. LOL! 😊

Last night my handsome husband brought Phyllis and her hatchlings in from the barn and put them in the brooder box with our hatchlings (after everyone was asleep) and it seems to have worked well as Phyllis is now mothering her two and our seven hatchlings. She's a great mom, very attentive, its going to be neat to see her with the new ones from the incubator when they hatch out in just over a week. If last night was any indication, she'll adopt them and be as happy as can be and our newest hatchlings will all adopt her as their mom, until they join the main flock, next month after it warms up a bit more. 😊

We weren't sure if anything would survive in that area as it is around our septic tank cap and was trampled to near death last year when we had our tank cleaned out. (The guy that did it told us we had the nicest smelling septic tank area he's ever cleaned because the flowers were releasing their fragrance as he trampled them.) We're grateful that they all survived and appear to be thriving already, so that's a huge blessing for us. 😊

Me too, Nacho is such a sweetheart, and she loves a good nap out in the sunshine as much as anyone. She's good at them too, just stops in the middle of whatever she's doing and stretches out as long as she can and just enjoys the warmth, she's a smart squirrel. 😊

Oh no, my tea is almost gone, that means its time to get off the computer and get cleaning. I'm still working on the computer room/office area, but I'm making progress and that's all I can do some days. I know you get it. (Chronic pain just sucks the energy out of us some days and its all we can do to get out of bed on others. The rare days when we wake up feeling energized and invigorated are so far and few between that we forget what its like, but once in a blue moon we get a surge of something and get loads of things done in a day, only to be down and out for a few days after we're done.) I'm just grateful that my medicinal plants and oils let me have a life, for a lot of years I thought mine was over, (when the morphine, no matter how high the dose, stopped working,) but now feel better, (other than the constant pain, that I ignore and push through as much as possible,) than I have in over 20 years and for that I'm also grateful. Bye for now, I'll chat with you again soon. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

There is so much cuteness overload in this post! And like @goldenoakfarm mentioned... I LOVE that squirrel napping photo! My main reason for being here (besides your awesome content) is to show respect for your support for the current vetfunding/tokencav post. I hope you are having a wonderful day today!

Welcome back my friend, thanks for visiting! 😊

We think so true, there are so many beautiful birds and animals around here for us to hang out with and enjoy the antics of, we are very blessed in that regard, for sure. I made that picture of Nacho napping on my HH my desktop monitor background, so I get to see that cuteness every time I turn on my monitor now. 😊

Awe, thank you very much for the kind words, us Vets have to stick together. No one who hasn't served in the military, regardless of country, can ever really understand what being a Vet means. The closest to knowing it are the family members that see what tours of duty do to us upon our return home. They are the ones that have to deal with the mood swings and stress that comes with being in a military family and God bless them all for sticking with us through all that military life deals out to us and our families. 😊

Love and light to you, as well. 😊

God bless you and yours. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
