On Wednesday, October 8 the next meeting of the Practical Philosophy Club will again take place at the Kingdom (Biskupia St. 18/1). This time, we the topic is "Addiction". The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m., and the discussion will be held in English. Admission, as always, is free.
What does it mean to lose control of oneself? Is an addict truly free?
Have you ever felt drawn to something (not just substances) that had power over you? What did that feel like?
If a person chooses to drink knowing it will harm them, is that still an act of free will?
Does society have a moral obligation to help those suffering from addiction, or should individuals bear full responsibility?
Are addicts morally responsible for their actions while under the influence?
Why do humans seek intoxication? Is it a form of escape, transcendence, or self-discovery?
Why is alcohol socially accepted while other drugs are condemned?
Is it ethical for governments to profit from gambling and alcohol sales while warning citizens about their dangers?
