A Gift They'll Actually Keep
Have you ever receive a pen that has been personalized with your name on it? Most people will discard all the old pens they have in a drawer...logo'd or not...first before they will ever toss out a pen that has their name on it. Regardless of whether they ever use the pen...it's generally the last one to ever go....if ever.
Such is the way with the trend of wedding party favors. I've recently been testing out couples thoughts on guest portraits. Guest portraits are professional portraits taken during the wedding day for all your guests who would like to participate as a gift from the couple and their associated families. Far better than other wedding party favors, these are something wedding guests will actually keep!
Guests get all dressed for the events and to have a professional portrait completed while you are there is a gift they can and will cherish forever. However, I plan to take that one step farther by providing a fine art print for them to pickup and take home at the end of the night. We will edit and print on site a 5x7 black and white print they can take home at the end of the night as a keepsake.
I certainly realize this is not an inexpensive venture and the couple has to truly be interested in this level of gift, but truly the amount spent in the US on weddings is quite incredible, so I can see this being a fun alternative for those dropping cash on their events. In addition, this is far better than the cheap photo booths with thumbnail style prints or emailed digital photos.
It certainly has to be the right event, but I think it has potential. I'll keep you updated on the process and how it goes!
Amazing shot as always. I used to be a bit of a pen whore, but I have gotten rid of a lot of my stash over time. I kept a few of the really special ones though.
WOW this is so beautiful, and honestly who wouldn't want a photo of themselves at their best self?!
To save on the cost, maybe you can post all the phots on your website, and let the guests opt-in to receive a physical copy?... just a thought... (maybe some sort of QR-scan setup... Some people will be just content with a JPG, others probably want a little print... and some might actually ask for a larger format which you can charge separately for.
I for one love the idea!
