Stormy and wet Saturday morning

I woke up reasonably early today after an early night and for once, a good nights sleep. As I got up, the heavens opened and I had a sense of dread about walking the dog. I've been promising myself for the past 5 years that I'd get myself some waterproof trousers but yet I've not been sensible enough to buy some! I left the house with a waterproof jacket, the dog, hope and the knowledge this was all going to go horribly wrong!

It was dry as we arrived at the beach and the sun had risen nearly half and hour earlier. A few of Lola's friends were around so they had a sniff and play before we set off. The gold of the sunrise looked fantastic against the dark clouds and the orange of the lifeboat shed.

We headed for the dunes and got a slightly better view of the rain falling in the north sea with the sunrise breaking through.

About 10 minutes later the it all got very wet and I wasn't happy. We were heading south with the rain and wind coming in from the north. My jeans were soaked in moments (along with my underpants) and once again the weakness of wearing a waterproof jacket made itself clear. It just runs off and heads south down your lower half!

The rain passed after 15 minutes or so and we headed off the dunes to the beach to head back to the car.

The wind farm is placed on a large sandbank that runs up the coast and although you can't see it in the photos, there were huge waves braking over the bank. The Olympic Challenger hadn't long left port and was heading north.

We were certainly wet through and quite cold by the time we got back to the car. There's nothing quite like sitting in a cold, wet pair of jeans! Lola got a jolly good towel rub when we got in before tucking into her breakfast. I enjoyed a lovely hot shower and a mug (or two) of tea.

I think it's time I ordered them waterproof trousers.
