Moon in Art History
Good day dear Hive Community, as always I hope you are doing well and that you also had a weekend that was full of positive experiences! In this post I would like to share some pictures of the moon with you and I hope I like them and would also like to go into art history.
My pictures were taken in the night and the waning moon was clearly visible, which is of course the most important requirement for astrophotography. For many years, the moon has also pleased artists of all kinds and this object in the sky has already stimulated the imagination of many people. The moon was already embodied in ancient cave paintings and over time it was artistically depicted more and more in various works such as paintings and others. On the moon itself you even can find a own work of art, which is known as "Fallen Astronaut" and presents an aluminum sculpture created by Paul Van Hoeydonck.
Many other well-known and unknown artists have used the moon as inspiration and the best known are probably the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890) who has inspired many people with his works such as "The Starry Night" and others. The artists Caspar David Friedrich, Carl Spitzweg, Thomas Moran, Claude Joseph Vernet, Hilary Jones and many other painters of the past have also painted the moon. Of course, the moon is still a popular symbol for artists of all kinds and has shaped many different art areas to a large extent. I also find it interesting that the moon can be found in the art of the coat of arms, which is also known as heraldry and can be seen in many heraldic shields.
Thanks for stopping by and watching! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
