Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)
Dear Hiveans, as always I hope you had a nice day and a great weekend! When I recently went on a little trip to a lake near me, I photographed a beautiful duck which I would like to present to you today.
This multicolored duck bears the common name mallard and scientifically it is also called Anas platyrhynchos. This species of duck is relatively widespread in Europe, North America, Asia or Africa and the habitat are mainly rivers, lakes, ponds but also coastal areas.
Normally, the mallard eats meat such as worms, but also plant foods such as water plants or even berries and seeds are very popular. Often you can find them in the water, but they can also fly well, even very well and can fly a pace of over 120 kilometers per hour.
The duck also plays an important role in symbolism and mythology. For example, it symbolizes the emotional balance of yin and yang. It is also considered a symbol of protection, love, feelings or vigilance. Also it can be found in the mythology of numerous cultures, for the ancient Celts as example, it was considered a symbol of healing and magic.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you like my post! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 and 55-210 mm lens!
