Aquamarine in Mythology
Hello dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to wish you all a great day and hope you were able to make one or the other positive experience today! In this post, I would like to specifically address the mythology of the minerals aquamarine and hope you can learn something new.
According to Greek mythology, minerals have generally arisen from the tears of joy of the gods that have fallen to the ground, and with aquamarine there is the legend that it originally fell from the treasure chests of the water nymphs and was flushed ashore. Ancient legends even say that aquamarine has the power to influence and alleviate the events of the sea and therefore it was often worn by seafarers as a protective carrier to protect against stormy weather conditions. According to other legends, it was thrown overboard by sailors as a gift for the sea gods to have better protection on their journey and in Greek mythology the mineral was also associated with the god of the seas Poseidon and its equivalent from Roman mythology Neptune.
Similar legends can also be traced back to the Middle Ages where it was thought that if you throw aquamarine into the water at the water surface you could predict the future and also carrying the mineral was associated with feelings. Allegedly, the emotions have influenced the mineral and when the wearer is emotionally in balance, the mineral remains blue and when someone is angry it discolors and fades. The color of aquamarine specimens was also used at that time for predicting the weather and while a blue mineral stood for good weather, brighter specimens were related to bad weather. Aquamarine was also often used as a love stone and it was assumed that it can improve the harmony between two people and it was also associated with the sky because of the color. The Greek scholar Pliny the Elder also already mentioned the mineral and the ancient Egyptians associated it with eternal life.

Aquamarine, stone of the mermaids and amulet of the sailors...
it is said that the ancient Egyptians placed aquamarine stones in the bandage of the mummies, for protection, and even that angels gave Moses an aquamarine crystal when he crossed the sea...
A crystal with a lot of history and beauty.
I loved your gem!
