Photographing Nature's Magic | Sunset at the Kalemegdan Fortress

Greetings from beautiful Belgrade! It's been a while since I've photographed the sunset from the Kalemegdan park and oh boy was this a spectacular one! I was supposed to go to a Tai Chi class but the colleagues were afraid of the ominous clouds and agreed to skip it since it's in the open by the lake. Immediately I decided to go on a photo walk as the conditions were lovely. The sky looked like a painting - dark with patches of light around the horizon.

Few raindrops fell causing occasional umbrellas to open, but it went away quickly. Met a fellow Fuji photographer as soon as I started my walk, we chatted a bit and then I headed towards the Kalemegdan fortress. I was right on time, the sun was about to set and it was giving off beautiful hues of red, orange and yellow under the purple sky. One of those rare natural wonders.

There were opportunities to photograph everywhere so I tried not to go crazy and started at a Statue of Victor. I noticed the lovely couple next to it so I tried to frame them in a nice composition. There were a lot of tourists and groups at this popular spot which can be both good and bad.

My favorite shot of the day was of another couple standing at the terrace (image number one). I saw them from far away in a beautiful hug, girl's dress was playing in the wind. They were so peaceful. My mind instantly decided to use the small model of the fortress as a counter balance. I tried both the version with the couple and with the sculpture in focus. The photo with the cute dog next to the couple on the bench is another one that stands out.

On the way back I took few more images and even tried long exposure. Without a tripod, I found a metal post and aimed at the crosswalk. I wanted to include both the people and the passing trolley. Recently I watched videos about Russian photographer Alexey Titarenko who was a magician for photographing the crowds with long exposure on black and white film. Finding inspiration in the works of others is important. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the process of creation! :)

You can't help but like your photos, because they have everyday life and your skill. In a word, everything is very beautiful in beautiful colors and perspective. I say this without flattery, sincerely. Thank you so much for your wonderful and helpful work. Together with you, we all travel around your beautiful country.

Wonderful interpretation! As always:)
Do you actually do actually exhibit your photos? (I think I remember you talked about a doing photo-books, right?) Or is it more a thing you do for yourself?

At the moment, this is mostly something I do for myself but with the vision of creating photobooks, prints and who knows maybe a gallery here and there in the future. I even created two photobooks previously but didn't market it outside of a circle of friends. :) Soon maybe. I am currently building a website that I can use as a portfolio and photo store.

That sounds very exciting though!!
I imagine there would be some awesome projects to start with your photos, it is almost like you have this beautiful portrait of your city right there...

but didn't market it outside of a circle of friends. :)

...well you have to start somewhere:)
