One photo every day: Go stool design I created in school (187/365)

Hey!

This photo was an idea for a design I made in my artisan studies.

It was to be a chair in the form of a go-stone, that could be opened, and turned into a goban. I never had time to make it into a finished product. Anyway, if I ever get myself a workshop with a lathe I might be willing to try it out.

go-stool
"It's versatile: Works as a seat, a go board and a holder for stones."

Camera body: Canon EOS 550D
Lens: Sigma ART 50 mm ƒ/1.4
Aperture: ƒ/4.5
Exposure: 1/80 s
ISO: Dual-ISO 100+200

Sorry for being late. I might have to turn my next photo late as well. I screwed up my sleep schedule for good. (Why do I have so little time these days? I used to get things done when I was a kid...)

Did you use a 3D software to create this and if you did I would like to know which one. I personally am taking courses for 3D modelling so I get hooked to topics like this easily. Also, I encourage you to try and finish it !

Keep up the great work as always and thanks for contributing to the Steem Community = )

I used SolidWorks, although I never was a Windows user myself and that was in school, I'm fairly sure I could do a similar design in FreeCad today.

This is really impressive ! How much time did it take you in total to make this? I would also like to know whether you have a portfolio , I'm curious what you've created = )

I can't remember how long I spent designing it, couldn't have been more than a couple of days though.

I didn't make a web portfolio when I was in school, instead I have everything I did in different sub directories on my computer and back up memory sticks. ;) I think I will eventually post some of the stuff here whenever I come across them.

I knew it, the first thing I thought was GO stone.
Even though it looks like an alien ship lol

Lol... It's really multi purpose. You know am from the western part of Nigeria and this to me looks like the pot we use to cook for parties in the west and the legs like the firewood underneath the pot. 😂

It's a fun concept but a convex surface could prove uncomfortable to sit on.

What about designing a seat in style of a go stone bowl instead? You would have to lower one side of the rim for sitting to be possible. But with the inside filled with black and white cushions shaped like go stones, you could really get in the mood for go. Complete with patterns like those in mulberry, they could suit the interior of a go fanatic perfectly.
