Hey dear community, first of all I hope you are all well and you have a day and a great start to the new week! In this post, I would like to talk a little about minerals and hope you can expand your knowledge.

Here you can see pictures of a specimen of the mineral clinochlore, which was first desribed in the 19th century and at that time the mineral ripidolite was also discovered and first it was thought that it would only resemble the structure until after closer research it was determined that it is the same mineral. The first descriptions can be traced back to the geologist William Phipps Blake (1826 - 1910) who had dealt intensively with minerals during his life and had published numerous publications and he was also often appointed as a professor at various educational institutions. He named clinochlore after the Greek words Clino for lean and Chloros for green and one differs between different variations which differ in color as well as from the structure of the contained chemical elements and it can often form black or red crystals which can be traced back to the content of iron or chromium and by admixtures with other minerals it can change the color. The origin can be traced back to hydrothermal processes and through metamorphosis of the rocks it is converted at lower temperatures and although it occurs more frequently, there are no special areas of application from an economic point of view and particularly beautiful specimens are often processed into jewelry or other decorative articles and because of the hardness it can be processed well. It is often found together with other types of rocks and also among collectors and in research area it can be of great interest because of the different variations or chemical compositions.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about minerals! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
