Axinite Mineral
Hello dear Hive community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a day full of positive experiences! Today I would like to discuss minerals again and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.
A specimen of axinite can be seen here and it is important to know that it is not an independent mineral in this sense but a separate group and it is essentially distinguished from manganese axinite (Mn), magnesium axinite (Mg) and ferro axinite (Fe). The different specimens can basically be distinguished from the chemical structure from each other and axinite exists is numerous different colors and there are gray, red, green, yellow or white specimens. The first discoveries can already be found on the 18th century and it has motivated numerous mineralogists to devote themselves closer to research and even before it had received its current name, it was published in some writings by names and the current name can be traced back to the French mineralogist René Just Haüy (1743 - 1822) who thought that the crystals are somewhat reminiscent of an axe. The origin can be traced back to hydrothermal processes and it is typically found in mines where ore is mined and therefore it is often mined together with other ores, but is rather rarer and there are no significant areas of application from an economic point of view. It can differ greatly from the structure and some specimens are relatively brittle, but there are also some with a stronger hardness and these are often used to process jewelry or other decorative objects and it is also very popular in the circles of collectors and enjoys great popularity due to the variety.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about minerals! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
