Animales en cautiverio, ¿deberían estarlo, o hemos creado ese estado para entretenimiento? [ESP/ENG]

A veces te asaltan pensamientos, que más allá de ser meramente "intrusivos" también son totalmente de índole existencial... En este caso, relacionado con la vida y la calidad de ellos tienen, al estar en cautiverio.... Pero quizá me estoy adelantando... El sábado pasado decidí visitar al Zoológico y también Acuario de Valencia. Un lugar, que todo niño pequeño de mi ciudad conoció mientras estaba en clases de primaria ¿La razón de mi visita? Pasar la antorcha, jaja. Ir con mi hija y mi novio, para enseñarle sobre la vida de los animales no domesticados a mi hija...
Si bien fue un día muy lindo, y francamente no tengo porqué quejarme, no menos cierto es que al término de nuestra visita turística, me quedó dando vueltas en la cabeza varias cosas... Entre ellas, la manera en cómo algunos de estas especies sostenían la mirada; como si estuviera totalmente dispersa, mirando a la nada. Si bien, no tengo de dónde agarrarme en términos científicos, la sensación que me ha quedado es que hay mucha nostalgia y amargura en esas miradas.
Quizá debido al confinamiento propio de estos lugares. Que si bien, son muchos de ellos santuarios para especies protegidas y que detrás forma, no tendrían como sobrevivir en la crue naturaleza; para otras especies es totalmente distinto. Desde aves de rapiña, como el gavilán hasta el cocodrilo de la costa; todo su mundo solo eran unos cuantos metros a la redonda. Esos sí, bien alimentados, se notaban fuertes y francamente sanos, pero el dilema de libertad y selección natural ligado al título de este post se mantiene ¿Es mejor la libertad que ofrece la naturaleza, o debemos intervenir a favor del entretenimiento?
No se crean... Responder acertada y adecuadamente a esta pregunta no es ni simple, ni sencillo... Muchas especies sobreviven mejor al cautiverio. Además, la propia ética detrás del Zoo-Aquarium es precisa la de ayudar, por amor, a los animales. Entonces, por tal motivo, esa acción no los hace diferentes a ti o a mí... Las complicaciones surgen cuando la mano humana interfiere con el libre desenvolvimiento del curso natural de la evolución. Los monos y su libertad intrínseca, ¿están hechos para ver reducidas sus posiciones, a unos cuantas vallas metálicos? ¿O a mendigar por comida a los visitantes?
El mapache que es parte de la foto portada de mi post... Es originario del norte de América... Tanto el clima como todo lo que le rodea no es apto para su correcta evolución....Sumado a los barrotes que se hab convertido en su realidad diaria. Tiene atención médica y una correcta alimentación en función de sus necesidades específicas, de eso, no me queda la menor duda... Pero salvo por los patitos; que deambulan pacíficamente por las instalaciones del Zoo-Aquarium, ningún otro animal pude percibirlo con muestras evidentes de "felicidad".
Puede, incluso, que todo este análisis existencial, no sea más que una humanización más de lo animal... Y que mi instinto protector esté nublando mi capacidad de percibir la realidad... No lo sé. Sólo intento relatar lo que creo entender y cómo he creído entenderlo, además.... Por tanto, es meritorio de mi parte plantear todo el cuestionamiento... Fue divertido y educativo haber ido a mostrarle a mi hija el Reino Animal y las diferentes variables de mamíferos, peces y reptiles que hay disponibles para admirar, respetar y aprender... Pero después de 5 días... Aun me queda la sensación de que algo no está bien... Si yo estuviera detrás de los barrotes, no sé si me sentiría mejor... Capaz que no, capaz que sí... ¿Quién sabe?

To go with my daughter and my boyfriend, to teach my daughter about the life of the non-domesticated animals...
Although it was a very nice day, and frankly I have nothing to complain about, it is no less true that at the end of our touristic visit, I was left with several things in my mind... Among them, the way in which some of these species held their gaze; as if they were totally dispersed, looking at nothing. Although I have nothing to hold on to in scientific terms, the feeling I got is that there is a lot of nostalgia and bitterness in those gazes.
Perhaps due to the confinement of these places. Although many of them are sanctuaries for protected species that would have no way of surviving in the wild, for other species it is completely different. From birds of prey such as the sparrow hawk to the coastal crocodile, their whole world is just a few metres away. Those, yes, well fed, looked strong and frankly healthy, but the dilemma of freedom and natural selection linked to the title of this post remains. Is the freedom that nature offers better, or should we intervene in favour of entertainment?
Don't believe it... Answering this question correctly and adequately is neither simple, nor straightforward... Many species survive better in captivity. Moreover, the very ethic behind the Zoo-Aquarium is precisely that of helping animals out of love. So, for that reason, that action does not make them any different from you or me... Complications arise when the human hand interferes with the free unfolding of the natural course of evolution. Are monkeys and their intrinsic freedom meant to have their positions reduced to a few metal fences, or to beg for food from visitors?
The raccoon that is part of the cover photo of my post.... It is originally from the north of America... Both the climate and everything that surrounds it is not suitable for its correct evolution....Add to that the bars that have become its daily reality. He has medical attention and a correct diet according to his specific needs, of that, I have no doubt... But except for the ducklings, who wander peacefully around the Zoo-Aquarium facilities, no other animal I could perceive with obvious signs of ‘happiness’.
It may even be that all this existential analysis is nothing more than a further humanisation of the animal... And that my protective instinct is clouding my ability to perceive reality? I don't know. I'm just trying to relate what I think I understand and how I thought I understood it, moreover.... So, it's meritorious of me to raise the whole questioning.... It was fun and educational to have gone to show my daughter the Animal Kingdom and the different variables of mammals, fish and reptiles that are available to admire, respect and learn about.... But after 5 days... I am still left with the feeling that something is not right.... If I were behind the bars, I don't know if I would feel any better... Maybe I wouldn't, maybe I would... Who knows?

I feel sorry for these animals especially if their situation is not to great and looks like they're also sad. While it's a great place for education but you could clearly see from their up close look and gaze, they're just sad. This is a great reflection and more should read this.
For me, writing this post wasn't any easy... Meaning, the perception of their faces (as you've just said) shows a deeply nostalgia... But it is also true that most of this animals couldn't survive out there in the nature... So, it is a heaviness duty carry such a responsibility... Thanks for passing by, friend @macchiata

La cuestión es... Si estuvieran libres, ¿estarían mejor que en el estado en el que están? No te creas, es un dilema profundo... Porque ninguna de la opciones está exenta de puntos débiles...
esa es la otra cuestión ☹️
