Being In My Wife's Mind or, Travel, Walk, Eat, Shop, and Visit Iasi, Romania!
Very few of you know my passion for film. There was a long period in my life when "I ate film on bread", if I may say so. From my teenage years until I became a father, which was more than 10 years. Then my time slowly, slowly stopped being mine... Why am I confessing this now?
I want to explain the genesis of the title of today's post to the community gathered, nurtured and, of course, belonging to @dswigle. The ultra-knowledgeable #MarketFriday! Such a permissive community, where you can basically write anything without fear of not fitting the recommended topic.
Watching so many movies, my mind is filled with sequences, images, and titles that are just waiting to come to life and that stick to any activity that requires a little thought. Likewise now, looking for a title for today's post, which is, I think, a little odd, I got help from an extremely strange film from 1999 with a title to match: Being John Malkovich. The character in the film finds a hidden tunnel through which he enters the mind of John Malkovich...
I've found an easier tunnel into my wife's mind... her smartphone. Now please don't think I've committed a crime. I have, of course, her consent... although she didn't know what I was looking for. I'll tell you now. Her photographs. Because of this, most of the photos in this post belong to my wife and I have her permission to use them! I swear!
A photo is worth a thousand words... but you have to have a rich imagination! I've extracted fewer words, but enough to take me through the wife's favorite places that fit into the #marketfriday theme of showing places where you can, want, or are forced to take money out of your wallet and even more so, a bit of travel, so but...
Travel, walk, eat, shop, and visit Iasi, Romania!
I believe that travel is impossible without spending money, without taking money out of your wallet, if anyone disagrees with this please tell me how else. That's why, without being mainly a travel post, I am telling a travel story and allowing myself to use #pinmapple to mark my place on the world map. Who knows, maybe someone will be interested in finding this place!
Iasi is one of the top five most important cities in Romania, and certainly one full of beauty, history, and culture. A city that I warmly recommend to everyone!
Looking through my wife's photos, I will show below some of the places she likes so much. I started with the Palace of Culture, an emblem of the city, as beautiful and impressive at night as it is during the day.
Some photos are not so well framed, my wife didn't care for that, like me, to take photos to be used in blogs. She photographs simply for her own pleasure.
The Palace of Culture is located in the middle of the city and has some perfect places nearby for visitors, such as a lovely park.
Another important neighborhood is a shopping mall. You can say, a mall? What's the big deal? I assure you it is a special mall, it was awarded as the most beautiful mall in South East Europe I don't know what year, but I saw a sign announcing this fact.
I can also testify, a painful testimony because I left a lot of money there...
Looking from the inside out, i.e. towards the Palace of Culture.
I assure you, the mall is professional! They put ice cream, and what a good ice cream, right at the entrance.
You're forced to walk past the ice cream display case, and who can resist?
The second child in the picture, with the bag on her shoulder, waiting impatiently, is my wife. There hasn't been a day where she's missed ice cream!
My wife's favorite ice cream is passion fruit yogurt, which was refreshing, obviously, and not overly sweet. Not too expensive either, $3!
But let's see what other photos my wife took... now there's a movie title rattling around in my head again, actually an old TV show from the 60s and 70s, "Bewitched".
It doesn't really fit, my wife doesn't do spells, otherwise, we'd have more money. In fact, I'm not so sure, because however much she had, she would definitely find a way to spend it all!
Obviously, any kind of cosmetics...
... here I don't understand what it focused on, I think the camera triggered itself, haha. If we weren't "naive" what would happen? Anyway, I admit, I like living statues of the opposite sex too.
Moving past this little mishap, I'll let you see a shopping session done by the wife, in the place where she is most comfortable. Here, photos of the wife are mixed with photos taken by me. I think she gave me her phone to hold while she checked dresses, blouses, shoes, and sandals.
The photo of the car was taken by mistake, of course...
But let the show begin, I'll just let the photos do the "talking"!
My wife could sit for hours looking and looking in any store and I have been trying to get her out of there for a while but she doesn't want to, just like the little girl below. I don't envy her future boyfriend.
Obviously, I couldn't do it like the little girl's father, but I have my ways too! I know this constant searching tires and causes hunger, so I lured the wife out with lunch at a Czech restaurant in this mall called Staropramen (an assortment of good beer).
There are many photos here, I don't want to insist, just a few of the food chosen. This was our favorite place for food in the mall, the place for a little treat from time to time.
Staropramen unfiltered beer is the best! I've had my reward for patience in the stores too.
Now I feel a little ashamed that I may have left an inaccurate image of my wife, that I presented her as a shopaholic. She is not. Among the photos, I found her passion for spirituality, religion, and history, for the old buildings that Iasi boasts. Like the monasteries. One of her (and my) wife's favorites is the Galata monastery!
A monastery built at the end of the sixteenth century on a hill on the outskirts of the town, it is a monastery of nuns.
Any traveler to Iasi will definitely visit the botanical garden. The largest and most beautiful in Romania. My wife, like any romantic woman, could not miss this opportunity to fill her phone with photos of flowers. As all #marketfriday posts are related to #alwaysaflower and I usually end them with a flower, now I will put more flowers made by my wife, as an invitation to visit the gorgeous garden!
I made a brief presentation of a trip, in fact it was a one year stay in this city, Iasi in Romania. A presentation through the mind and eyes of my wife and I found that she loves this city as much as I do.
Traveler to the country where I live is what I've been doing for many years, that is, I try to show what is more interesting, more important, and not necessarily what is more beautiful in the country where I live. I don't bypass the ugly places or the sometimes uncivilized behavior that I try to explain through the history of these places but I focus especially on what I think a visitor would like to see when he arrives for the first time in Romania. Romania, a member country of the EU, is located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe. I'm going to use this tag #mycountry and then put these places on the Pinmapple map for those who want to discover them more easily!

I have seen some people on youtube who travelled or have been travelling with little money. However, this is mostly consists of hitchhiking and eating one time in a day.
I also like travelling alot, and my dream is to cover my expenses with the rewards from HIVE for any travel someday.
Your dream can come true and I hope it happens soon. For the last two years, I have also used money from Hive for holidays.
I am happy for you. I hope money from HIVE caused and will cause new posts on HIVE ;)
Definitely, thank you!
I agree with you Sir, you can't travel without money. But hoping one day I can visit that castle too. I felt your love of film. the way you express your feeling by this phrase, "your mind is filled with sequences, images, and titles that are just waiting to come to life and that stick to any activity that requires a little thought. it hits differently.😀
Thank you and I wish you to visit this place or others, maybe more beautiful! I'm glad you noticed my passion for film. It has diminished now but in my youth it was ardent. It was also my way of traveling and seeing the world on a screen.
Thank you very much. Always a great pleasure to receive this message from you!
I completely agree with you, if a person does not have money in his pocket, he will not be able to do anything, nor will he be able to eat or drink anything. Pass money is more important. The weather is also very good in such a weather when a person gets it especially when a person enjoys a lot along with his wife and children. Since my childhood, I love to eat ice cream whether it is cold or hot. One should visit such places once in a month, it refreshes one's mind completely. All these places looks very wonderful and amazing and food looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing.
With pleasure! We need to take small pleasures and joys when we have the opportunity, and sometimes chance helps.
Becoming a dad is one of the best Blessing of Almighty, after becoming a Dad, your focus shits towards your kids, and you somehow start to forget yourself, your likes, your hobbies. The only thing that matters for you is your kids and his/her needs.
You're right, I feel the same way and I behaved accordingly...

What a beautiful Romania. All the things you experienced above are what I do in a place like walking, shopping, and eating. It feels so good to be here I assumed my friend as I sew your fantastic moments. Have a nice time and have safe travels.
Thank you, wish you the same!
I tried to show the best side, not everywhere in Romania is the same and I think this is true all over the world.
And what you have shown us really impressed anyone who could see it, my friend. You are most welcome and the pleasure is mine.
I always find it interesting to scroll through another's phone, with permission of course. :) It usually is quite an adventure. I know how beautiful the mind of Magda is, so it is fun to see how she sees life. It is hard to travel without money, but, we all did it when we were younger and we lived to tell.
Sadly, most of the pictures did not show up, but, I got a glimmer of what her pictures were about, and for the rest, I made up my own story. :) You are such a good sport, Dan! You know I Love running through your posts. I also wanted you to know that today, I met two new people that I share a dinner table with. They are a mother/daughter and come from Transylvania! I was very happy about the pleasant addition! The mother speaks no English and the daughter speaks a tiny bit. I wowed them with my tiny Romanian vocabulary! :) I know it would make you smile! They are from Transylvania and we had a delightful dinner. Tonight, my mission is to brush up on common words and phrases.
Thank you so much for the huge support of #MaarketFriday!
I apologize for the delay in answering and I hope you know how much I appreciate the great participation. I might not be able to comment all as my time is not my own for this time. I will always upvote when I get the time, but, I wanted to be fair and let you know.
I try to let people know how much I appreciate their participation in #MarketFriday! Even though I get many on a weekly basis, each one is read and enjoyed. By now, you must know how much I enjoy learning about the world and how it is to live in your corner of it, and, make yours or mine better in any way. I have been given hints to make life nicer, and recipes to make dinner interesting. I find it interesting to compare, not by the world's standards, but, by how we find the quality of our life with different I enjoy learning more about you and hope you feel the same, that is why I find it important to take the time to read a couple of #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment. It is important for a community to do this, learning about others, and getting to know each other. The fun is in getting to know people and making a positive contribution to community life. All this fun and money too. What is not to love? That is one of the reasons I joined Hive. How about you? :) I leave you with the guidelines. I hope you are having an amazing week!

This is what I could see. :(
Oh, very unpleasant. I hope when you get home it all looks right.
I am sure it will. It is the lack of internet and sailing in the middle of the ocean.
I'm so sorry you couldn't see the photos. I think it's because of the internet. Because my laptop loads all the photos.
Thank you so much for making the effort to understand something in my post. Thank you for taking the time to comment... After all, you are on vacation and should forget about the unrelated.
You've been away for so long that I'm beginning to fear you want to move there, to the sea! What would it be like to buy a houseboat?
I hope you had a wonderful vacation! Glad you made it... then I look forward to you coming back down to earth with us. Thank you for what you say (about me). I'll tell you... one of the reasons I'm still here is your friendship. Thank you very, very much.
