Young Curlycup Gumweed!

Namaste!

Google Lens told me that this is an American biennial plant which is also known as Curlycup gumweed, I have a little doubt about it because even though it is American, it's growing so well even in the scorching heat here.😅 Jokes apart, possibly with time this plant has adapted itself to the climate here. But since Google Lens recently misidentified a plant. Let this bud bloom then it will be easy to confirm its identity.

Though as far as I compare through pictures, it seems to be the same plant to me but you never know because Nature is magical! 😊 But whatever it may be, it looked quite attractive so I thought let's do a photoshoot of it too.

It was around 6:30 in the evening and the sun was shining bright. I didn't need a flash or something, cause there was so much light. Like every time, I took pictures with my phone without any extra settings. My only objective was to take as clear pictures as possible of these buds.

However I am a little confused about their identity, I can confidently say that these flower buds belong to the sunflower family, even though they are distant relatives of sunflowers, they have some relation.

I also found its sepals unique. If you have ever paid attention to seagrass in cartoons especially, You will also agree that its sepals look exactly like the grass in the sea. I also checked the internet to confirm this thought and not in every photo but in many photos, I found these sepals to be similar to the grass waving in the sea. :)

I took the above pictures while standing between the sunlight and the buds, due to which you can see some shadow in them.

But I have taken the two pictures shown below from the other side of the plant, due to which you can see the yellowish glow of sunlight on them.

When I saw these buds for the first time, I thought that by this time almost all types of flowers had bloomed, then how did they take so long? and with this thought, I came up with an idea for the title of this blog "SORRY, I'm late!" But then after asking Google, I came to know that many flowers of this family bloom between June and September. haha!
