Early Morning at the fort

Early Morning at the fort

Good Morning and have a good day

Today I am sharing a few shots from an Early morning walk at Fort Taber Park here in New Bedford

I was lucky enough that morning to catch a lovely sunrise

Starting with a shot of Fort Rodman with the sunrise colors in the background

Also known as the Old Stone Fort, Fort Rodman (known as "Fort at Clark's Point" until 1898) began construction in 1857 under the third system of US fortifications, and in 1862 construction became overseen by Henry Robert, author of Robert's Rules of Order and an Army Corps of Engineers officer. The fort, as built, had emplacements for 72 cannon in three tiers; a fourth tier was originally planned, but this was removed from the design to allow more timely completion. Construction was halted in 1871, and the fort as planned was never completed.

Sadly its not in good shape these days and they do not allow people to go inside the fort, I hope that one day they may restore it

I do love catching a nice sunrise over the water so took a few shots on the beach in the park
Looking back towards New Bedford, only subtle colors in the sky this way

But looking towards the pier, some lovely warm colors in the sky and reflected on the water

For getting steps in a duller day is better and I do loops around the fort, but when there are nice color sinthe sky I often head to this beach and get a few shots, and hence take less steps

another shot from the beach, I only got about 7K steps this morning while out, so had to do another 3K steps when I got home to hit my 10K steps before breakfast goal

That is a quite amazing sunrise. It's started to come early enough here that I would actually have to get up at around 3 AM to catch it I think. Okay, maybe not that early, but I would definitely have to skip my workout to make it to the coast in time!

It's a shame you can't enter the fort. I hope they restore it at some point. It would be great if you could show us inside.

Beautiful photographs.

That first one came out amazing! The clouds and lighting were just right, spectacular color with the fort in the foreground. I really like how that one came out. Sunrise on the beach is always beautiful, but reflecting off the water like that makes it even nicer. Great job on those 10K steps before breakfast!
