Hello to all members of this community and art lovers! For a couple of weeks now, I've been in the city of Barquisimeto (Venezuela), taking a break from my life in the capital. To my surprise, after searching for information about what I could do for free, I found out that there would be a presentation by the visual artist Jesús Guillén, as part of a movement that the Barquisimeto Museum is currently underway to showcase local talent. I thought it was wonderful because I hadn't been to that museum in years, much less after it had been closed for quite some time. The opportunity had arrived, and I decided to take advantage of it.

But before the presentation of the guest artist began, I took the opportunity to receive a short guided tour of the museum spaces where the exhibition "Worlds that inhabit us: Peoples that we are" is currently on display. It includes works from the collection: Cirilo Rodríguez, Altidoro Rodríguez, Antonio Scorches, Chanita Colombo, Gregoire Massengo, Ramón Chirinos, Ricardo Lameda and Salvador Valero, as well as the guest artists: Alí Darias, Antonio Evíes, "Cachimbo", José María Camacaro, Dennys Múñoz, Edward Rodríguez, Enrique "Kike" Medina, Gerardo Escalona, Geremel Castillo, José "Cheo" Rojas, Ivonne Másquez, Leibe Liscano, Luís Romano, Manuel García, Miguel Granado, Nicolás Piquer, Norquis Pastrán, Rodrigo Rodríguez, Rosa Canelón Boraure and Scarlet Capdeville.

Throughout the exhibition, one can appreciate the artists' vision of everyday life, religion, and their interpretation of their roots, all of which are part of the artist's unattainable quest to express what motivates them and their own experiences. What I liked about most of the works was the intense use of color in some, as well as the minute detail in others. It's worth highlighting those pieces where the creator wasn't content with using traditional materials and used whatever was available to express themselves: from recycled materials to those from nature itself. It's always pleasing for me to notice these details, and even more so now that I've become a fanatic about verifying them.

My favorite works always turn out to be those where the artist manages to create something not only striking and different, but that also makes you feel your own creative instinct moving, vibrant, as if saying, "I'd like to do something like that." The sizes of the pieces varied, but I was surprised to see some very large paintings. I know it's something you often find in galleries and museums, but it always makes me think about how impressive the artist's creative process must have been with a canvas of such size.

There were also some abstract works, as well as some quite interesting sculptures. While I had hoped for more rooms available for exhibitions, I learned that the museum is still under renovation. Still, I'm glad that what's currently on display are such fascinating and incredible works. I really hope that the museum will be more appreciated by the public, as it's not only a space to contemplate art and learn about culture, but also a good opportunity to raise awareness. There are many talented artists in this city, and the University of Arts is right next door, so it would be wonderful to know that the facilities shine with all the creative spirit that dwells in the city.

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes del arte! Desde hace un par de semanas me encuentro en la ciudad de Barquisimeto (Venezuela), tomándome un respiro de mi vida en la capital. Para mi sorpresa, luego de buscar información sobre lo que podía hacer de forma gratuita, me hallé con que se realizaría la presentación del artista visual Jesús Guillén, como parte de un movimiento que tiene actualmente el Museo de Barquisimeto para dar a conocer al talento local. Me pareció maravilloso, porque tenía años sin ir a aquel museo y mucho menos luego de que el mismo estuvo en cerrado por un tiempo bastante largo. La oportunidad había llegado y decidí aprovecharla.

Pero antes de que comenzase la presentación del artista invitado, aproveché de recibir un pequeño recorrido guiado por los espacios del museo en donde se encuentra actualmente la exposición "Mundos que nos habitan: Pueblos que somos", en donde se hayan obras de la colección: Cirilo Rodríguez, Altidoro Rodríguez, Antonio Scorches, Chanita Colombo, Gregoire Massengo, Ramón Chirinos, Ricardo Lameda y Salvador Valero, así como los artistas invitados: Alí Darias, Antonio Evíes, "Cachimbo", José María Camacaro, Dennys Múñoz, Edward Rodríguez, Enrique "Kike" Medina, Gerardo Escalona, Geremel Castillo, José "Cheo" Rojas, Ivonne Másquez, Leibe Liscano, Luís Romano, Manuel García, Miguel Granado, Nicolás Piquer, Norquis Pastrán, Rodrigo Rodrígez, Rosa Canelón Boraure y Scarlet Capdeville.

A través de la exposición, se puede apreciar la visión de los artistas desde lo cotidiano, la religión y su interpretación de sus raíces, pero conformando parte de de esa búsqueda inalcanzable del artista por expresar lo que lo motiva y sus propias vivencias. Lo que me gustó de la mayoría de las obras, era el intenso uso de color en algunas, así como el detalle minuciosa en otras, pero cabe recalcar esas piezas en donde el creador no se conformó con usar materiales tradicionales y utilizó lo que había a disposición para expresarse: Desde materiales reciclados hasta de la propia naturaleza. Siempre es grato para mí darme cuenta de estos detalles y más ahora que me he vuelto una fanática de la verificación de los mismos.

Mis obras favoritas siempre resultan ser esas, en donde el artista se las ingenia para crear algo, no sólo llamativo y distinto, sino que te lleva a sentir que tu propio instinto creador se mueve, vibrante, como diciendo "Me gustaría hacer algo así". El tamaño de las piezas variaban, pero me sorprendió ver que habían unos cuadros muy grandes. Sé que es algo habitual de hallar en galerías y museos, pero siempre me hace pensar en lo impresionante que debió ser el proceso creativo del artista con un lienzo de tales dimensiones.

También, habían algunas obras abstractas, así como algunas esculturas bastante interesantes. Si bien, me esperaba con más salas disponibles para exposición de obras, me enteré de que el museo aún se encuentra en remodelación. Aún así, me alegra que lo que se encuentre expuesto por los momentos sean obras tan fascinantes e increíbles. Tengo muchas esperanzas de que el museo sea más valorado por los ciudadanos, ya que no sólo es un espacio para contemplar arte y culturizarse, sino también una buena oportunidad para la sensibilización. Es ésta ciudad hay muchos artistas talentosos y justo al lado, se encuentra la universidad de Artes, así que sería maravilloso saber que las instalaciones brillen con todo ese espíritu creativo que mora en la ciudad.
