Best spring day yet!

We had a lovely day today in Vermont! Temperature topped 60F for the first time this spring.

Our crocuses (or croci π€) opened up again.

The yellow ones are back in addition to some purple ones.

Hopefully the daffodils can't be far behind.

Our afternoon walk takes use by a swamp and the wood frogs are croaking. Its always fun to hear them. They are so noisy and sound vaguely like a duck quacking so it sounds like a group of ducks going on. Wood frogs are the first frogs to call out in the spring in Vermont.

We also took the first hike of the year up to Silver Lake. Silver Lake is about 800 feet higher than Lake Dunmore. The trail was clear (mostly) of ice but the lake was still iced over solid. I should be sharing a photo here but we were in a hurry to get back in time for a basketball game.

Here's a shot of Lake Dunmore from this morning. Almost all the ice gone. There is a little on the left of this photo. Mostly the ice is just hanging out in some shady coves. The wind and chop broke up the ice on the larger open areas.

Sun is shinning bright here as well! During most of the day wearing only a tshirt is already feasible. Finally! π
Good to hear. We are not quite at tshirt and shorts weather yet but getting hopefully. Raining today π
All our croci are gone now. The plum and peach trees are blooming like crazy giving me allergies, womp.
I planted some plum trees last year. At least one will bloom for sure but not yet. We are supposed to get a warm stretch next week. I'm planted 2 peach trees this year. They are border line in Vermont. I'm counting on some help from climate change π
I think a new ice cap will form in Mexico and AZ and the north will become the desert with climate change. It was quite cool last week while in AZ when normally its usually hot already. My grandpa would cover his peach and pear trees fully with plastic and those thing were huge to avoid the desert frosts that would happen every now and then.
