When I visited this beach town I realized that it didn't really have a beach hahaha, but a pier to take you to 20 or more that are around here. Although it is a bit more expensive because you have to pay for the boat to go to the different beaches, I really liked having the option of going to a new one every day.

Cuando visité este pueblo playero me di cuenta que en realidad no tenía playa jajaja, sino un embarcadero para trasladarte hacia unas 20 o más que están por aquí. Aunque es algo más costoso porque debes pagar la lancha para ir a las diferentes playas, me gustó mucho tener la opción de estar cada día en una nueva.

It is Mochima National Park, located between the states of Sucre and Anzoátegui (Venezuela), with an area of 94,935 hectares full of stunning landscapes, both beach and mountain. From the town where I stayed, also called Mochima, I visited four of its beaches. I dedicated a day to each of them and I show them below.

Se trata del Parque Nacional Mochima, ubicado entre los estados Sucre y Anzoátegui (Venezuela) con un área de 94.935 hectáreas llenas de impactantes paisajes tanto playeros como de montaña. Desde su pueblo, donde me hospedé, llamado también Mochima, conocí cuatro de sus playas. A cada una le dediqué un día y se las muestro a continuación.

When you are at the town's pier the waters are dark, it looks more like a lake with lush vegetation around it, but when you go out to the open sea the color changes and you start to see blues and turquoises.

Cuando estás en el embarcadero del pueblo las aguas son oscuras, eso más bien parece un lago con su frondosa vegetación alrededor, pero cuando sales a mar abierto el color cambia y empiezas a ver azules y turquesas.

The first day I chose to go to the beach closest to town, the boat took only about 15 minutes to get there.

El primer día escogí ir a la playa más cercana al pueblo, la lancha tardó sólo unos 15 minutos en llegar.

Playa Las Maritas

White sand, crystal clear waters, green mountains, was the beautiful scenery that greeted me here. It's a small beach, without waves, where I swam without problems and I could see fish without the need of a mask. One of its ends is rocky and I went there to look around and have a better panoramic view of the place.

Arena blanca, aguas cristalinas, montañas verdes, fue el lindo escenario que me recibió aquí. Es una playa pequeña, sin olas, en la que nadé sin problemas y pude ver peces sin necesidad de una mascarilla. En uno de sus extremos es rocosa y fui hasta allá para curiosear y tener una mejor vista panorámica del lugar.

On the way back to town the sea was a beautiful deep blue that contrasted with the light colors of the rock formations of the coast. The boatman told me that Mochima has hundreds of beaches and more than 20 islands, so you have to stay about a month to explore everything, and of course, have a backpack of money hahaha, sea transfers are expensive around here....

De regreso al pueblo el mar estaba de un azul profundo hermoso que contrastaba con los colores claros de las formaciones rocosas de la costa. El lanchero me dijo que Mochima tiene cientos de playas y más de 20 islas, o sea que hay que quedarse como un mes para explorar todo, y claro, tener una mochila de dinero jajaja, los traslados marítimos son caros por aquí...

Playa Blanca

The next day I went to Playa Blanca (White Beach), which is about 20 minutes from the town's pier. As its name says, what stands out the most is its sand, when the sun is at its splendor it blinds you with its brightness.

Al siguiente día me fui para Playa Blanca, que está a unos 20 minutos del embarcadero del pueblo. Como dice su nombre, lo que más destaca es su arena, cuando el sol está en su esplendor te ciega con su brillo.

It is among the most popular in Mochima and since it isn't far from town, you can enjoy it until later, the boat picked us up at about 5:00 pm, just in time so that we were not surprised by the high tide in the open sea.

Está entre las más populares de Mochima y como no se encuentra muy lejos del pueblo, te puedes quedar disfrutándola hasta más tarde, la lancha nos buscó como a las 5:00 pm, tiempo justo para que no nos sorprendiera la marea alta en mar abierto.

Playa Manare

On the third day I went a little further, this time the boat took a little more than half an hour to reach the destination. Playa Manare is much greener, not only because of the lush mountains that surround it, even the color of the water is different from the other two beaches.

Al tercer día me fui un poco más lejos, esta vez la lancha tardó en llegar al destino poco más de media hora. Playa Manare es mucho más verde, no sólo por las frondosas montañas que la rodean, incluso el color del agua es diferente a las otras dos playas.

The sand here is an ocher color, but the visibility in the water is excellent, just like in Las Maritas and Blanca beaches, you can see the marine life swarming between your feet. It's a pity that when I went I didn't have a waterproof camera, I would have made interesting underwater shots.

La arena aquí es de un color ocre, pero la visibilidad dentro del agua es excelente, igual que en las playas Las Maritas y Blanca, puedes ver la vida marina pululando entre tus pies. Es una lástima que cuando fui no tuviera una cámara que se pudiera mojar, hubiese hecho interesantes tomas bajo el agua.

Something remarkable about the landscape here are the rocky cliffs, I was told that there are several caves in them.

Algo destacable del paisaje aquí son los acantilados rocosos, me dijeron que hay varias cuevas en ellos.

Playa Cautarito

The fourth and last beach I visited in Mochima was Cautarito, about 45 minutes from town. Unlike the others here, there is no service, you must bring your own food and drink. The boat dropped us off there and did you see that shore? This spot was my favorite of all! There was almost no one and I was able to photograph it without people.

La cuarta y última playa que visité en Mochima fue Cautarito, a unos 45 minutos del pueblo. A diferencia de las otras, aquí no hay ningún servicio, debes llevar tu comida y bebida. La lancha nos dejó allí y ¿vieron esa orilla? ¡Este lugar fue mi favorito de todos! No había casi nadie y pude fotografiarlo sin gente.

Esperen, sí había alguien, ¡muuuchos peces!

As always, I did my respective walk around and then I dived for hours in these fabulous waters of the Venezuelan Caribbean.

Como siempre, hice mi respectiva caminata por los alrededores y luego me zambullí por horas en estas fabulosas aguas del Caribe venezolano.
