A moony Friday.

We are now in the fourth day of cloud and rain, but this was taken before it started...

...and as usual I have placed the best shot last in this post.

The strange thing here is that in our immediate area, we did not have any heavy rainstorms, as it is all only the fairy rain stuff. Tiny droplets are so small that one can rather feel them than see them. But in some of the other provinces, there were severe rainfall numbers resulting in floods, and it was especially bad in the Eastern Cape, with over 80 lives lost. Things weatherwise have certainly become life threatening, no wonder that they call us the Cape of Storms.
But in saying all of this, life goes on and let me show you some eye pleasing stuff.

A bird makes its way past the setting moon.

A couple of Rock Pigeons were waiting to see if there would be a sunset.

Then we went to a high spot to have a look at the seafront, as I wanted to see how the moon dropped down into the sea.

But no such luck, as the moon disappeared behind a band of white cloud.

Finally, this was what they called the Strawberry moon.

The rising and setting of the sun, and the rising and setting of the moon are events that we look forward to seeing every day. We check out the relevant times and work out their coordinates to know exactly where they will appear over our mountains to the east of us. There are so many peaks and valleys, that it is important to work out the exact one peak or valley, so that we will not miss their risings. We also have to calculate the times that both will rise above the mountains, which takes about 20 - 40 minutes this side of the pass. Then we follow both throughout the day, ensuring that we have the times and coordinates for their setting too. And while we wait, we watch the movements of all the plants, birds, mammals, insects, and reptiles, and they give us clues about the weather for the day. Then the mountains and clouds warn us whether or not we must take a raincoat and umbrella for the day's adventures.
Such is our life here.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
