Sitting quietly in the shade at a pond can deliver some beautiful photos.

I sat under a tree and this Cape Skimmer came in to sit nearby (Orthetrum julia capicola).

Now I don't know some of the flower names and the ones that I do know, I have forgotten their names. Daisies and roses are easy, but there are no daisies and roses in here. Nevertheless, I will give it a go to name the flowers, as my wife has a book about gardens. Maybe I will get lucky and then again, maybe not.
One can get that serene and peaceful feeling at any time for free just by sitting quietly at a pond and that's what I am trying to show you.
So come and join me.

A colorful variety of Lotus flowers / Water lilies were on show in the pond.

Two yellow lotuses that gave the appearance of a trio, but the front one is a reflection in the water.

And then for a slow walk through the gardens.

I might not know the name of this yellow flower, but I know the bugs that are sitting on it. They are called Dotted Fruit Chafers (Cyrtothyrea marginalis).

Yes! It is another Cape Skimmer at the pond overflow stream.

I prefer to be out in raw nature, that is untouched by human hands, but at the moment I have to stay close by in case I fall over. Due to a current medical situation. But there is also ample beauty close by as you saw above and maybe one day I will get out in the wild again. So, in the meantime, I will have to stick to posts closer to home.
We met with the head of a partner non-profit today and I will soon have something to show you about the feeding project that Papillon supports.
Then on Thursday the new coding training classes of the year will start and we will attend the opening.
So, life continues, and we only have to try our best every day.

The vibrant colours of the flowers is mindblowing 😱. I enjoyed the joke about the bee flying around without his life jacket 😂.

I almost didn't spot the dragonfly, as I read dandelion 🙊. Don't ask how. So no, I didn't find the dandelion, but I did find the dragonfly 😌🍀

You always impress me with your dragonfly photos, Zac, and they always remind me that I said in 2023 I want to take a photo of a dragonfly too.

Today, I love the colour of the lotus flower with the bee most - awesome colour.

I'm not so sure, but I will certainly think of it next time when they fly around again, but instead of a dragonfly it might be a damselfly because they seem to be easier to photograph, I believe 😂 !LOLZ

I knew that you will try the easy way, but in this challenge there are no easy ways. So damselflies don't count and please know that I know the difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly.
Oh! And I also know the difference between a dead dragonfly and a live one. So you can't take a dead one that you found, or bought somewhere to take photos of as I know the mountain goat's tricks 😜 !LOLZ

Just received a mail with the doctors prescription for the iron vials that we have to go and get from the pharmacy. So he will do the transfusion tomorrow morning at 9am 😀

Tomorrow has been cancelled, as the Medical Aid once again wants to only pay a third of the costs that they take from our savings and we have to pay the big balance.
Our doctor even sent them a motivational letter to verify the urgency of my case.
So on Monday I will give them a bit of my mind on the phone.

Did I say 2023 or 2032? I can't remember 🤣 !LOLZ

No, this time I didn't go to bed ... I went home, had a coffee with my wife and then I surprised myself and left towards the north.
I have been driving for a few hundred kilometers through heavy snow storms with quite some snow on the roads. It was fun driving on the slippery snow but I also was happy that I didn't have to turn around or put the snow chains on the wheels.
The only problem was that there was not a single chance to park somewhere because all parking spaces were full of snow: the snow plows pushed all the snow onto the parking lots. These are only cleared of snow when the roads are free from snow, and even then only the most important ones.
So I just enjoyed the journey driving in the snow 😀❄️

In the afternoon I was working a bit on my van: I built a little sideboard for the power bank and the electric cables and other little things and in the evening I was too tired to turn the computer on.

It's Monday evening - I hope you've been talking to them and now the costs are no problem anymore 🙏

At times one cannot take photos and you are so lucky to feast your eyes on all of the snow. I seem to remember that you were waiting impatiently for the snow and now you have had a lesson by lady Patience, as there are now finally plenty of snow around 🤣

So you did a bit of work on the van and then you were tired. Now this sounds to me typical of a mountain goat 🤣

I'm very sure it was 2032 🤥, but I will try to do it earlier and maybe even in 2023, who knows 😉 !LOLZ

The van was driving fine, but the winter tires are not the best anymore, so I really was happy after each slope or pass 😀
The snow is still there and by now there will be some parking lots along the road, I believe 😀 Maybe I'll try give it another try on Saturday, because on Sunday I'll be at work.

My father is a carpenter who can make anything from wood, but when I make something from wood you wouldn't believe that he's my father because it always looks far from good 😂 but it works (almost) as it should work 👍

You're so patient, my friend, and since a day has gone by since you wrote that, I hope that you have got some good new for me 🙏

Great to hear that the van can cope with the snow and it was a good buy my friend. Although I am a bit worried about the worn winter tires, as you may slip on one of those high passes. God forbid.
So maybe you should make their replacement a priority 😉
You may get lucky on Saturday to find a nice spot and then you can take many photos until you are tired.
Then you can sleep the tiredness away at work on Sunday 😜

Your father was a tradesman and you are a policeman, so yes, you have a perfect excuse for not being able to do the perfect work that your father did. Just don't stick the wood together with bubble gum, as it will only last for a week 🤣

Once I photographed a hoverfly in flight, but that was more a coincidence than an intentional shot 😂 !LOLZ
But you never know and I want to see you reyes when I send you a similar beautiful photo as yours 😉

Oh yes, the van is a good car, but the driver isn't bad either 😂 Here we learn how to drive in winter, at least when you grow up in the countryside. The tires are not too worn, but not fresh anymore either 😀

I'm always making the best plans for the things I want to build, but the results are mostly not looking like the sketches I made 😂

Now I have never said that you are a bad driver and I don't know what's wrong lately, as everybody takes me up wrongly. Of course you will have much experience in snow driving and I think that when you enter a desert race, you will turn out to be a champion, as the drivers know how to drive in slippery conditions. It is just a wee bit hotter in the desert that in the snow 🤣

Time will tell about my certainty and don't underestimate yourself, as you know that you can do it 😉

The desert is a treacherous place for drives, as in some areas the sand has a dry crust, but as soon as a car puts weight on it, the crust slips away revealing the soft and deep sand below it. So you are right that you won't need snow chains, but you will need a phone to call for help when your car is sunk up to its belly in the soft sand 🤣 !LOLZ

Oh yes, computer monitors have no real joy in them, and things are so much more interesting in nature.
A wise choice my friend 😉

Friday has gone fairly well and we stayed at home, we were most of the time in our small garden and I got an amazing display of wasps and dwarf geckos that I will post soon.

All that you need to know about desert driving is online. Check out the "Dakar Rallies". Best would be to take along a navigator as then you will both get stuck in the sand and the bonus is that you guys will have 2 phones to call for help 😜 !LOLZ

Hahaha, numbers and I have never been mates and we have had so many fights that we ignore each other now 😊

At least you can drive somewhere at 3:30 in the early morning my friend. I get up at all hours and have to go and sit in the dark, in our little garden waiting for the sun to rise 😮

Pains came back on Saturday (yesterday) and that's why we slept on the floor. Today the pain is manageable which to us is confirmation that a hard surface is needed for hip and back pains 😊

It's been a while since I have got up so early in the morning, but it was great and the roads were almost empty.

I don't think I have ever slept on the floor, at least not without a thick sleeping mat or air mattress 😴 but I believe you that it's good for your back and I'm glad it really helps.

Yeah, whenever we go on a long drive, we depart in the early morning hours, as it is such a pleasure with no cars around. Soon the cooler months will be here and then we will go and visit further inland, as there are many mountain passes that I want to see.

When I was younger, I often slept on the floor, but nowadays I have to crawl and hold onto something when I want to get up 😉
I am happy to say that my back is starting to feel much better Hannes and thank you for the prayers.

Yep, before sunrise it's best to drive - nobody else is on the road and so you don't need to care for other cars and if there's another car coming you'll see it because of it's lights 😂

I belong to the people who love a thick soft mattress, the thicker the better 😀 but I am happy that you feel better when you sleep on the hard floor 😴

So true and the further that one drives over here, the less cars appear. Most cars over here are around the cities and very few inland at that hour 👍

In the early years, long ago all people had to sleep on the floor, as mattresses weren't invented yet. The people also ate healthy food from the land, as no modern additives, like MSH and acids were added to the food. They were 100% healthier than us today. Think about it! 😊

Nope, we didn’t. Some stuff happened with them, we are not involved in. So it is a little escape for them. The get back their energy and recharge and being pampered and surrounded by good people 😉🥰

Hope they can recover here… I would never leave someone hurting… when I know about it.
But you are right! Life is tooooo short.

So far it is and they arrived safe and sound. They had a longgg journey and are sleeping already.

Bee in water lily, my wild guess !LOLZ Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea, a lovely aquatic plant with sky-blue flowers, is South Africa's most commonly grown indigenous water lily.

When I first came across these stunning blooms I learned much about them, now the beautiful blue dragon fly close to the pond it's a match!

One as beautiful as the other, how nature compliments each other!

Lily is so delightful to see on ponds in the wild, dragonfly is stunning in blue. Such soft colours under the heat of the African sun takes one by surprise most times.

Here are some of the effects of a critical low iron count in the body. (Iron deficiency)
Extreme fatigue, Weakness. Pale skin. Chest pain. Fast heartbeat. Shortness of breath. Headache. Dizziness or lightheadedness. Cold hands and feet. Inflammation or soreness of your tongue.
Brittle nails.

Doctor called me yesterday to tell me that they will give me an iron transfusion through a drip in the meantime as we heard that the radio active scan cannot show up hidden small bleeding cysts.
So now the idea is for me to swallow a pill with a micro camera inside it in order to take photos of the entire digestive system.

Hahaha, I can imagine climbing into my stomach with my camera and finding many animals in there :)

It would actually be pretty disturbing if you found any dragonflies in there 😂 Definitely a first in modern medicine!
