A story without beginning or end

We were inside the Sierra del Rosario, an area declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. And here, specifically, we were about to climb up to the Loma El Mogote viewpoint.

At some point up there Rolo would say: You can’t complain, we even saw a meteor falling. Hahaha…

A celestial body… let’s put it that way! Whatever it was, I made a wish.

But I was feeling it in a celestial way too. The proof lies in my photos. I don’t know, perhaps they’re nothing extraordinary, but they show what I was seeing. And it was also my first experience of night hiking, because we descended from there once all the lights had gone out.

From now on, I’m going to arrange the photos of the views, up to the one already shared, in order.

…then I took the photo of the celestial body… 😅

Before I go on sharing photos from that day, I must say that according to the travel and hiking brochures cherished by many visitors beyond our borders, Soroa is known as the Rainbow of Cuba.

I suppose that mythical idea that at the end of the rainbow a treasure or several await fits here. For the landscape is exuberant, giving the sensation of being in a natural paradise. A river, natural pools, ponds and waterfalls, mountains, immense trees, birds of every kind and colour whose songs are a delight. In Soroa there is an orchid garden with more than 700 species… what more could one ask for. A land where everything grows healthily. The inhabitants of the area take pride in their agroecological produce. And well… let’s not forget the rainbow that forms over the great Soroa waterfall, which I couldn’t see this time… 😝

The Loma El Mogote viewpoint in Soroa is about 375 metres above sea level (approximately 1,230 feet).

I was telling you that night caught us there. This was the last photo I managed to take with my camera before descending. I think I have a few short videos of that descent which will surely come another time.

Hi, I assure you that you only saw a fraction of the treasures of that place. Beautiful photos of a breathtaking landscape. I've never been there, but because of my profession and career, I've studied the area. That summit holds riches that transcend the visual and jealously guards them, waiting for someone who knows how to reveal them.

It is such a magnificent place that it makes us ponder very transcendental matters. I wish we could go birdwatching together, my friend.

Thank you!

Beautiful photos of that place and its view of the distant landscape, with its mountains and that revitalizing light. Thank you, and best regards, @nanixxx.

😊 Thank you so much for your support!

I think I must keep slipping away like this to feel revitalised by the lights of this land.

Good afternoon @nanixxx. What wonderful scenery! I saw the celestial body and didn't make a wish. I didn't think it was appropriate to distract the celestial body while it was working on your wish.

I also saw a bird (or two) flying majestically through paradise.

Thank you so much for sharing this (almost heavenly) experience.

You know, a big hug!

Thank you. 🤗

At that moment I heard a voice, and my wish was to bring it comfort. From a place of unconditional love, I spoke to that being, assuring them that the greatness I was witnessing was inside them, and that fear had no place.

Generally, I usually make my own wishes before going to sleep.

Birds are always by my side. 😉

Un gran abrazo.

😀

Yes, of course, and I remember everything that a photo cannot convey—such as sounds, scents, the breeze on my skin, and the weariness of my body, which, curiously, also felt happy and renewed.

Thank you, friend!

Indeed, I try to remain quite active, as I can’t save that for when I’m 80 years old, hahaha… kidding. Cheers! And thanks!

Thank you!

I had a few slips. I carried two flashlights, but even so... 😅

(I had to change torches — it sounded as though I was about to burn down the forest) 😁

The rainbow forms at the foot of the waterfall. I hadn’t realised that detail didn’t come through in the translation.

It is undoubtedly a beautiful place, one we need to feel and enjoy more often to enter that meditative state we love. That picture is very beautiful because of the contrast between light and shadow.

Thank you 😊, and have a wonderful day!
