Back in the streets of Yerevan

Yep, it's time for another batch of random photographs from the streets of Yerevan. Haven't been getting out as much lately, it's a bit warm and I've been a bit tired and dealing with the tougher weather and the fatigue of a poorer sleeping pattern that is being fixed. Alongside the start of registering as a freelancer here in Armenia. A lot of things to do. I do miss getting out a bit, but at the same time so many things are happening at once that I don't feel like I'm missing out on much as the ball continues rolling forward. The "DON'T FUCKING PANIC" text being quite relatable to it all.

I've been using a Black Mist filter on the 35mm from 7artisans, a great company that also makes some lower-priced cinema-type lenses for consumers and poorer professionals that want that cinematic focal length and look. Don't know what that means? Basically, cinema lenses use slightly different focal lengths to regular lenses; instead of 28mm it'll be a 25mm. Or instead of a nifty-fifty it'll be a nifty... uh, 44. The filters are another side of more professional looking photographs and films: either variable neutral density, or mist filters which smooth out some footage and make lights look a bit more appealing, either natural or artificial. The Black Mist being one that smooths things out in a really beautiful way, not so evident in these given these were taken in more harsher daylight environments.

Picked up a polariser that will come in a week that will help reduce the harshness of light and its reflections on objects as well. Building a bit more gear and tools for the times I get out into the world and want to really perfect some images. Still run-and-gun it, but more weight in the backpack, I guess! Wonderful! Each of these newer tools will keep things fun too, especially with some upcoming trips into more natural settings where the light will want to be controlled a bit more. Especially here with that intense UV! I actually think I'll write a post about these filters and post more examples of how they're used and what they do, thinking about it; I don't think I've really seen anyone here on Hive really mention filters before. Maybe some might take something from it.

I don't have much more to share at the moment, beyond some videos that I can't be bothered with uploading and dealing with just yet. But once that polariser comes, I know for sure I'll be getting back into things and shooting more than ever. These additions to the tools being something that really opens up the creativity and opportunity, especially from a more professional perspective and contacting potential clients. This is the time for book and money making. Really pushing that creativity to another level. Making sure I hear that shutter several times every single day, at the very least. More gear. More fun.
