cabin on the mountain side

Today I want to share with you the day after our move in in the form of a walk around the house and a bit down the road… as some of you already know we moved from Spain 🇪🇸 to the #HIGHLANDS of #SCOTLAND and boy did we have snow ❄️ and ice ❄️ during our drive up….

The day after we woke up to even more snow ⛄️ let me tell you it truly was WINTER WONDERLAND, LIKE A FAIRY TALE. 🥰

Today’s selection will be of 31 photographs, where I take you along on a walk around our rental house in the snow. ☃️☃️☃️☃️
Date: 17 January 2023.
The Photographs in this post are all taken with my iPhone 📱🤓 the ones taken with my CANON camera walking much further I show you another day 😉

I will follow the time stamps on my photographs. So it looks like you are walking along with me on this #walk around the #house, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything, like the little #details seen through my eyes. 😊

Let’s start our WALK now:

After waking up, I look out of the windows and see these views : ☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️

Everything is covered by a pack of snow, between 15 and 30 cm ☃️

It looks magical…

The balustrade of the balcony.

On the balcony… just everywhere I look I see snow ❄️ and lots of snow 😊

It is still snowing if you look close at the photos… the stripes in the photos ❄️❄️❄️ are all little snowflakes.

I decided after a cappuccino ☕️😉, can’t start my day without hahaha 🤣 , to head out for a walk around…

Getting out of the garage the snow is pristine… besides our tire tracks from the day before and the neighbours foot prints letting their dogs 🐶 out.

Even all the trees are covered 🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳

I decided to walk around the house to the back and head up, higher up… to look at the views. 😎

Me stepping in the fresh snow… my foot goes down quite a bit… 😎☃️ leaving everywhere foot prints now.

Steps into the house…

Steps up towards the garden that is on a steep slope.
Let’s go up… are you coming? Be careful, it could be slippery 🤓

All plants and bushes and trees have a big portion of snow on them. 😎☃️

Climbing up many steps, looking down…

All the way up there is a bench, now covered in snow ❄️ it will be a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the views 😉🤩

On the other side of the fence is a road… into the forest 🌳 🌲

A few more houses but after that, nothing… it’s remote up here 🤓 not sure if somebody lives there, will check it out.
I love the blue of the sky peeking through… 🥰

The other side the sky is getting dark.

The view over the house… the mountains further away can’t be seen due to the weather.

I walk down the steps, come along… let’s go down again 😎
I see branches with some orange/red leaves. The contrast is stunning.

More steps down next to the house.

Love the colour and the snow… look how big the pile of snow is on this tiny fragile branch 🤓

Isn’t that cool… it’s holding up really well. 💪🏻

Let’s walk down the road a bit now 😊☃️

Isn’t this stunning?

So pristine… just one set of prints walking down with the dogs (neighbours) I follow to make not too many new prints, as it looks stunning.

This road won’t get gritted or a snow plough come up. If we want it cleared we need to do it our selves 😎

I see animal prints, could this be a deer 🦌

Looking up, the trees 🌳

Here I take a little bit further down the road the first photo of the mountain cabin.

The sky is showing us some amazing colours 🥰

Walking back up… towards the house.

Around noon we walked all the way into the village down the mountain. This I documented with my big camera. So stay tuned to more wintery photos and some amazing views 😎

Thanks for showing. I get the house in Spain tomorrow although my lawyer will be present instead of us with the notary. I hear a little snow was on the mountains there as well aleit not as much as you have. Good luck!

Oh that’s pretty cool, congrats on finding it and getting this far in the process.
Yep, it won’t be as much as here in the highlands… hahaha 🤣 but you can always go and drive towards the snowy peaks in Spain if you want some winter fun.

I know… it’s pretty cool. I think it’s a holiday let, but all others aren’t. (Not that there are many on this mountain 🏔️)
Happy about that 🤓 not to many tourists… will change on the roads though. We will see…

Was the cushion comfortable? 🤣 I haven't been in the snow but the cold burns, it must be a hot cold cushion.😶‍🌫️

I loved your publication. The photos of the snow are so eloquent. I wish I could touch it one day because I was born in a country with a lot of snow and never had contact with it.... Now I live in a country with lots of sunshine.

Life is like that... Strange. Inexplicable. I have been taken from one premiere to another hahaha.
The landscapes and the colours and the stillness of that bluish white fascinated me and the footprints in the snow.... Hehehe ... When will you have a bit warmer weather there?
Now I'm going to get my coffee to go to work... Thanks for the inspiration.

I so understand the change of countries. This is my 6th country of residence, last one was southern Spain 🇪🇸 so it’s a big change hahaha 🤣

No they don’t. As soon as they see people they run away. Very shy animals in the wild.
We did see last Monday a large group next to the road. Stopped and I captured them with the camera. 🦌🦌🦌🦌 will share soon. Such a majestic animals. So large too. Beautiful.

There are some luckily. I have talked to most of them already. Very friendly 🤓

Hahaha once they start talking yep. But believe me I am an introvert 🤓
So I make difficult friendships. The first steps for me are hard.
But… the people are so friendly up here, they start talking always. And then it’s ok for me. 😊

Nope, no tigers 🐅 up here… the prints weren’t very clear. Could have been a rabbit too.
But I thought deer as last night a big deer walked through the garden at night 🦌 stunning.

Yep… it was massive. We thought driving up the day before was a lot. The next morning it doubled ☃️☃️☃️☃️
I loved seeing it @hoosie what a time to arrive 😎😊 couldn’t get out by the car. We would never have been able to drive up anymore once arrived down at the main road hahaha !LOL
it sure is a change… loving it though 🤩

That little cabin is a bit down the path… I was standing way below. It’s not a cliff side.
The location of that house is gorgeous, they can see into the valley. I can’t. This rental is more on the side.

If it's the gorgeous is winter, I can't begin to imagine how it will be like in summer 😱. I've always had a love for Scotland, specifically the countryside. I'm exited for the walks you'll share down the line! 🤩 I'm happy to see you're enjoying the first few days in the new home ⛄

Amazing… the sound that it made walking. Very crisp. Unique… loved it.
For such a cold and snow ⛄️ one can dress up well, lots of layers and winter jackets and shoes.
It isn’t that bad as most think. The air is fresh and crispy too. So different to the hot and humid air in southern Spain. One can truly breath…
