The Belianske Tatras — Views from Łapszanka Pass and Strednica (May 2025)

The Belianske Tatras have always been one of my favorite mountain ranges — raw, majestic, and completely different from the rest of the Tatra Mountains. In May 2025 I visited two places where their dramatic landscape looks especially impressive: Łapszanka Pass on the Polish side, and the Strednica viewpoint in Slovakia.

Below are a few shots from these spring trips. Even though the valleys were already green, the peaks were still covered in a fresh layer of snow — creating a striking contrast between the forested slopes and the bright, winter-white ridges.

This is one of my favorite frames from the trip — captured during a short stop at Strednica. Low clouds, soft light and snow-covered slopes created an atmosphere that’s hard to find in any other season.

📍 Łapszanka Pass — a classic Polish viewpoint

From Łapszanka, the Belianske Tatras look completely different — gentler, more harmonious, with a wide panorama and calmer light. It’s a perfect spot for sunrise photography, although this time I managed to capture mostly morning light.

🎒 A Few Notes from the Trip

May is an excellent time to observe the Belianske Tatras — snow still lingers along the ridge, while access to the viewpoints is already easy. Both locations are simple to reach, and the weather changes fast, offering plenty of unique photographic opportunities.
