A fisherman braved death on a steep river rock bank to catch fish

Hi Hive Lovers

The following photos are snippets of stories from my adventure trip to the upstream of an inland river in the mountainous region of the Gunung Leuser National Park in Aceh.

The location is in a hidden area that is rarely visited by people. The distance is approximately 2 hours by two-wheeled vehicle from the last point of a village. A river cliff with a swift flow of river water on the sidelines of steep rock cliffs. The rock cliffs there stand straight and are very slippery to climb. Very appropriate as a place to unwind and enjoy nature away from the crowds of residents.

I and three friends stayed there overnight with complete camping equipment, but for food matters, we only provided ourselves with snacks. You don't go out into the wilderness to enjoy your sumptuous meal. When in the wild, you need very little food to survive, so you don't burn out.

But the day we were there, we were blessed because we had met a resident who was looking for freshwater fish from the fast-flowing river.

He is very agile and shrewd and can go up and down on these slippery rocks without using any protection; it seems he is very used to the challenges of these rocks. He was like defying death when going down and up the big rocks and slippery slopes there. It is a very big risk; it seems impossible to survive if you fall into the swift currents of the river. If you don't fall on a rock, you will be swept away by a very fast river current.

Every time he cast his net, he always got fresh fish, which he immediately put into the fish storage that he tied around his waist. I suspect the fish population there is very large because there are rarely people who catch fish there.

I have obtained permission from him to take some photos of him while fishing there. I can only take photos from the top of the cliff; I don't dare take the risk of getting too close to him. The rocks on the river cliff are very slippery and very dangerous to climb down.

The fisherman was kind enough to give us some of the fish he caught, which we gladly accepted as a rare opportunity to enjoy fresh fish fresh out of the water, right from the spot.

We process the fresh fish in moderation, and the fish seekers very politely refuse to wait for our dishes to be ready to be cooked. He didn't want to waste time getting back to catching his fish.

Kindness and blessings are everywhere.

How brave you are to walk on those slippery rocks without any protection, but I must congratulate you for such amazing photographs.
