Very often the roads make me believe (or rather, understand) that I go out to take photos not for the need of the photo itself. No, I believe that I go out every day to take photographs because I like to have some time where introspection floods my thoughts...

I don't want to go into a long litany of philosophical statements about "roads". I just want to say that to go anywhere you need a road, therefore roads are something we face every day, unless we prefer to remain immobile... So whenever we move we always use a road and this is especially palpable when I often go to take photos in the rural areas near my town...

I never stop taking pictures of the paths I walk along looking for things to photograph. Over time I have learned to reflect in a very particular way on the concept, the meaning and the vision of what we perceive as "roads"... I like to think, as I wander, that I am walking a necessary path. I also like to think about the paths of others. Suddenly a more universal vision permeates my thinking and I am inclined to think that all paths lead to the same evolutionary and growth end. Perhaps the only difference lies in the speed and skill with which one travels the path. But there are also the faster ones, so that the others can watch them go by and learn...

On the other hand, looking at the path I follow makes me think that there is necessarily a place where the path ends and you arrive where you had to arrive... There are many ways to use the time of life we have for something more than "being born, growing, reproducing and dying"... It seems to me that all that is something you do along the way, but you don't have to stay there.... So from my point of view, you have to use this path to get to "that final place". I think that after there, we won't need any more roads... Surely from that place, we can finally see the very diverse paths that others followed and finally understand this complex skein we usually call "life".

As a sidenote to all my reflective text today, I would like to point out that -as is my custom- what I am writing is what I think and feel today. So, being faithful to my way of looking at things, maybe tomorrow or in a couple of days, weeks, who knows, I will be thinking something different and I will write it too. That is also part of my "necessary freedom", which by the way has been very hard for me to achieve and assimilate. That's why I left dogmas and traditions behind, embracing them only when I feel like dancing with them for a moment, to then let them go and continue wandering in exquisite solitude along these "roads" until I get to where it is necessary to not go back...

Muchas veces los caminos me hacen creer (o mejor dicho, entender) que salgo a hacer fotos no por la necesidad de la foto en sí. No, creo que salgo todos los días a hacer fotos porque me gusta tener un rato en el que la introspección inunde mis pensamientos...

No quiero entrar en una larga letanía de afirmaciones filosóficas sobre los "caminos". Sólo quiero decir que para ir a cualquier sitio se necesita un camino, por lo tanto los caminos son algo a lo que nos enfrentamos todos los días, a menos que prefiramos permanecer inmóviles... Así que siempre que nos movemos utilizamos un camino y esto es especialmente palpable cuando voy a menudo a hacer fotos en las zonas rurales cercanas a mi ciudad...

Nunca dejo de fotografiar los caminos que recorro en busca de cosas que fotografiar. Con el tiempo he aprendido a reflexionar de una manera muy particular sobre el concepto, el significado y la visión de lo que percibimos como "caminos"... Me gusta pensar, mientras deambulo, que estoy recorriendo un camino necesario. También me gusta pensar en los caminos de los demás. De repente, una visión más universal impregna mi pensamiento y me inclino a pensar que todos los caminos conducen al mismo fin evolutivo y de crecimiento. Quizá la única diferencia radique en la rapidez y habilidad con que se recorre el camino. Pero también los hay más rápidos, para que los demás los vean pasar y aprendan...

Por otro lado, mirar el camino que sigo me hace pensar que necesariamente hay un lugar donde el camino termina y llegas donde tenías que llegar... Hay muchas maneras de utilizar el tiempo de vida que tenemos para algo más que "nacer, crecer, reproducirse y morir"... Me parece que todo eso es algo que se hace en el camino, pero no hay que quedarse allí.... Así que, desde mi punto de vista, hay que utilizar este camino para llegar a "ese lugar final". Creo que después de allí, no necesitaremos más caminos... Seguramente desde ese lugar, podremos ver por fin los muy diversos caminos que siguieron otros y comprender por fin esta entreverada madeja ilusoria que solemos llamar "vida".

Como coletilla a todo mi testo reflexivo de hoy, quiero a cotar que -como es mi costumbre- esto que estoy escribiendo es lo pienso y siento hoy. Así que, siendo fiel a mi manera de mirar las cosas, quizás mañana o dentro de un par de días, semanas, quien sabe, estaré pensando algo distinto y también lo escriba. Esa es también parte de mi "libertad necesaria", la cual por cierto me ha costado mucho logar y asimilar. Por eso dejé atrás dogmas y tradiciones, abrazándolos únicamente cuando siento deseos bailar con ellos un instantes, para después soltarlos y seguir deambulando en exquisita soledad por estos "caminos" hasta llegar a donde sea necesario para no volver atrás...
