Hello #Hive photography lovers!... Those of you who have seen my street photography work will have noticed the presence of fog in the photographs I share in many of these publications... So today I woke up very early, observed the fog flooding the streets and decided to show you what this place looks like from above when this happens...

I took my camera and attached the "never well known" (but always a good performer) 18-55 mm zoom lens (yes, that little zoom that usually comes in the camera kit when purchased and which many photographers speak ill of)... The truth is that I don't understand why this happens, because that little lens has served me many times and it has given me quite respectable quality images.... I guess it's all about a kind of "black legend" among photography enthusiasts... Anyway, I don't have any fixed wide angle lens for landscape photography, and I don't think my current budget will allow me to buy one. I'm not very keen on landscape photography either, so I think my little 18-55 mm will be in my backpack for a long time to come... But let's keep looking at the photos, which is the important thing here...

What I did today was to ignore the tempting foggy streets and go quickly to the west of the town in search of the road leading to the mountains called "La Copa" (The Cup). Once you cross the small river it starts a steep ascent which is quite demanding for a guy over fifty and a bit fat like me. But I was willing to do anything to take pictures of the misty valley and share them with my friends at #Hive, so even though I was about to faint I kept climbing as fast as I could up the road... The intention was to get over the mist as fast as possible to be able to observe from a point where the misty valley was already illuminated at the top... And boy, did it happen!...

The village of Montalbán is about 660 m.a.s.l. and after about 60 minutes walking I managed to reach an altitude of about 950 m.a.s.l. This was enough to appreciate the mist bed spreading over the valley majestically while the already radiant sun was shining in the sky accompanied by some stratus clouds... What I did was to put my camera in manual mode (M) and start trying some combinations of parameters to cope with these difficult light conditions and get some pictures of it all.

I was there for about an hour taking pictures and catching my breath after such a fast ascent (for my precarious physical conditions). When the sun started to get too hot, I decided to start my way back. But by then the memory of my old camera was full of nice RAW pictures, which I would later enjoy editing a lot... And (as it is happening) share them with you here on #Hive!

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... The pictures are then exported to JPG format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3. and/or Photoshop
