Marry Me: A Proposal At The Beach

Love bridges two lonely people, doesn't it? I'm still alone at 34, and I often wonder when I'll leave this world behind. My friend and I had a conversation recently and she asked, "10 years from now, what will our life be?" My answer to her was, "I hope we'll be somewhere in Europe 10 years from now." (We both wish it) And given my age, I'll be 44 by then, which is the age at which real life begins.

I also mentioned my Caregiving friends who successfully married their foreign partners and migrated abroad, and they now have beautiful kids respectively. She then began to make fun of me for dating a foreigner, and I was to her. We are both single, sole providers for our families and have never considered getting married because we each have different priorities in life. And it's not love.

Honestly, I still find it difficult to picture my life with a man sharing a house with me and daily childcare responsibilities. There is no doubt that my perspectives on life and priorities will change. Some personal desires will be gone. But they said that it's worth the risk. I just thought, "Is it?" Short, but full of thoughts at the back of my head.

The truth is, it will never be on my bucket list that I will pursue, especially now that many things have been piled on my table. I can't handle them all sometimes, and I just release a deep sigh. "When will this end?" That's always a question with an uncertain answer.

It's not actually the topic for this blog, I just released a little sentiment about it since the shared photos here are about marriage.

I spent my day on Ma Wan Island one weekend and waited there until dusk appeared. I wasn't sure if it was a good decision or not, all I am certain of is, that I loved the spectacular view of this island at night. Along the Tung Wan Beach was the perfect spot to wait for dusk and witness the beauty to behold.

It wasn't just a stunning night, but romantic. I so happened to see a marriage proposal preparation by the beach, and a lot of thoughts bombarded my mind upon seeing the scene at that moment.

"Sana all". A Filipino expression was the first phrase that came out of my mouth, but I do love seeing such a romantic event. I don't wish for marriage but I can't deny the fact that, sometimes, I imagine myself in the same scene. I'm just a lady with a vulnerable heart. It does beat as well.

The engagement was held at Tung Wan Beach overlooking the beautiful Tsing Ma Bridge. Isn't it a stunning backdrop? On the other side is the Noah's Ark which adds beauty to the view. I suddenly imagine Titanic, where Rose and Jack landed at the beach and get married, lol.

Haven't I mentioned in one of my entries to writing engagement before that my ideal wedding is at the beach at sunset? The scene reminded me of my wishes back in the day when my heart was still beating for someone I loved. Unfortunately, my love was gone, and my heart has been beating abnormally since then, lol. I probably need a heart check-up 🤣.

Anyhow, it wasn't just the engagement that caught my attention, but also the number of couples dating by the beach. They were sore in my eyes, lol. But before that happened, I couldn't keep myself admiring the beautiful pinkish silhouettes in the sky as the sunset came. It made the bridge look even more beautiful.
