Gorgeous Wintery Kõnnu Swamp
Going back in time for a bit. To be exact... back to February of this year. I wanted to go back to the Kõnnu swamp in the upper part of central Estonia. I had been there in the summer of 2024 and absolutely loved this place. The small lakes with their shapes and reflections were out of this world beautiful.
This time, however, I was there in the winter, and no lakes could be seen. They were under deep snow and ice cover. I still wanted to go back there and see what this swamp looks like during this cold season.
There are two towers in this swamp and I took all the photos on top of these towers this time. One tower is in the middle of the swampland. These are the landscapes that were all around me.
If you look closely, then you can see the other tower at the edge of this swamp. In the trees.
Now the next two photos are taken on this other tower, at the side of the swamp. This tower is already situated on a hill, and stands a lot taller than the previous one in the middle of the swamp. I was also fortunate enough that the sun decided to show itself just a little bit. That created a really nice contrast over the swampland.
On the opposite side of the tower is Paukjärve Lake but the view is partially blocked by the tall pine trees. Still, you can see the high view over parts of the lake. Absolutely gorgeous viewing point.

European countries, which transport you to indescribable thoughts, thank you.
Beautiful landscapes, truly beautiful. I really enjoyed the photos. Thank you.
Winter can be beautiful for sure!
I love the contrast of tones between all these landscapes; it certainly adds a lot of harmony to the different scenes.
Yeah, me too. Especially one of the last photos that is taken higher up with a bit of sunshine.
