Her name was Liina

She was beautiful; curves that compelled me, tender, soft, delicate and fragile; I just wanted to touch her, to connect - She made me happy,

Liina had inner strength, I loved that about her, and she needed it to rise and bloom as she did. My thoughts were often of her and came unbidden; I let her inside me to places few could reach...and those thoughts came often. Always. A distraction...yes, a welcome one, and one I opened myself to.

I trailed fingers lightly and lovingly upon her and released reluctantly, the sensation lingering like the last vestiges of warmth draining from the fading day, and she lingered in my thoughts, day or night, a constant reminder of the happiness she'd brought me...but now she's gone.

fuck off you stinky ass licker (1).jpg

I speak, quite obviously, about one of my hyacinths, the beautiful purple-blue one in these images. When I first got her I called her Liina, a lovely name that befits her beauty...and yes, all of my hyacinths have names. Don't yours?

Every year these bulbs pop up and add beauty to my life with their vibrant green foliage and beautiful flowers. They announce that spring is not far away and I welcome their colour and company. Their pots sit dormant most of the year but I know they'll come to life eventually and I look forward to those brief moments of beauty we share; I look forward to Liina the most though; she's special.

fuck off you stinky ass licker (2).jpg

A little while ago I posted photos of my hyacinths however Liina hadn't bloomed yet, she can be shy, so I had to wait. You can see that other post here if you'd like to.

A lot of my photography posts are taken inside in my lightbox but this (and the one I linked above) were taken outside as the hyacinths are all potted and I was reluctant to cut them. It adds a different element to the shoot, different light conditions to work with, and I quite enjoy it. Mostly though, I just love being out in the garden with my friends, my plants I mean, and when the beautiful Liina is blooming it's extra nice.

fuck off you stinky ass licker (4).jpg

fuck off you stinky ass licker (5).jpg

fuck off you stinky ass licker (6).jpg

Of course, like all bulbs, they come and go and I'm sad to say that Liina has gone; she left me alone with just the memory of her beauty and the brief but all too short moments we spent together as comfort.

I miss her.

Love the colours on that one and I'm pretty sure it's not just my massive bias because purpley blues are my favourite XD

Oh thanks, she's a little bit special as she's the only one that has that particular colour and stands out because if it. That messes with my OCDness at times, but I decided to love her the most (equally, but don't tell her) and I've come to anticipate her arrival each year.

pretty sure it's not just my massive bias because purpley-blues are my favourite

I get it. It's a lovely colour combination isn't it?

Thanks for commenting...Any chance of hoodwinking the J-man into a coffee our somewhere? A take-away during a walk at the coast? You could call it a date. Either way, have a good weekend.

As you understand I am not a native English speaker, I help myself with the translator, Deepl, so every time I take what you write, I take it to the translator, but before reading, I repeat, I laugh out loud because of the names that the pictures have, my friend, the names in Spanish I am sure it sounds funnier than in English, thanks for making me laugh.

Well, changing the subject.

When I started, it's like I was reading a poem, kind of a seduction poem with its touch of love, but then when you make the clarification of the flower is that I realize, however, great introduction for a flower.

I understand that it can be difficult for non-English speakers to get all the nuances and aspects I write into my post and that a lot simply doesn't translate well; it's the same when I translate from Spanish to English and it often makes the post read...well, in a way the author did not intend.

Laughing is good though, so I'm glad I make that happen.

When I started, it's like I was reading a poem, kind of a seduction poem with its touch of love, but then when you make the clarification of the flower is that I realize, however, great introduction for a flower.

I did that to add some interest to what is essentially a collection of images which form the main focus of the post, I commend you for reading though, most do not.

I'm not trying to give you flowers, but what is Caesar's Caesar.
The way you write, as we say in these parts, is very colloquial and what you want to say is very well captured.

How not to get to the end of the publication, if when you do the questioning based on what you say is when one can reflect and search, where and when something like that happened to me.

I love the color of those flowers, it was a good idea that you took photos of the flowers outside and not in the light box, I'm sorry that the flowers are short-lived and you miss them, by the way the initial text was a passionate way of describing the flower 🥰

Just a little creative writing I guess, some will appreciate it, like you, and some will not however it made this post more interesting for me to do and that's what counts.

I hope you're well and have a good weekend.

Love the poetic sides of yours in describing the natural beauty. It reminded me of an argument with my boss who argued that nature never made any Blue flower yet....while I insisted it exists as I saw....wish now I could share some more example of charismatic nature....who just makes our life so vibrant , lively and colorful

Thank you sir, I wanted to add that element, creative writing, to indicate my love for nature and how it makes me feel. Maybe the name indirectly (and that text) also relates to a particular person in my mind...or maybe not. 😉

I've heard people say the same, no blue flowers in nature, and I'm like, you're bonkers brah, of course there's blue flowers! Nature is a wondrous thing, it keeps me company and I like more than most people to be honest...it's genuine, doesn't bullshit or lie...it just is and just gives.

I hope you're doing well fella! Have a great weekend.

I smelled that clearly 😉, have been reading your post regularly, and can anticipate what's going on👍 may be not🤔.

Nature is a great healer and always supports us in better way than any human. I am experiencing it since few years. The gifts of nature are too many and always appreciate them. We are yet to explore the nature compltelly.

You're a smart cookie mate, I put a lot into my posts that has other meanings.

Nature seems to reach inside me and takes hold...if I can't be out there amongst it, the feelings are gained by remembering when I have been out there...But I'm never far from nature and my garden is one such place that seems to nurture my being.

I really like how they are not just one solid color. There are dark areas near the tip and middle line, and there are lighter areas near the middle. I also love how they have different intensities. One is blue, another is light blue, and another is almost purple. Their contrast with the green leaves, and the light pink flowers next to them really make the color stand out even more. These are really nice looking flowers.

They are quite intricate in colouring really, I like that also because it shows character and personality...yes, even in a plant.

I loved the first three paragraphs, I felt like I was reading a book. I like the cool tones the flower has, that blue and purple I love. It is always interesting to learn a little more about the plants you have. A pleasure to read you.

Thanks mate, I was hoping to capture how I feel about someone (or the plant) in my words and it seems I managed to do so which makes me happy.

My garden is a really nice place for me, not only is it my patch of Australia, it makes me feel comfortable and comforted and that's important.

Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it.

The first three paragraphs took my thoughts to something else, but then I came to know that you are talking about your lovely flower. LIINA.

It's ok my friend, soon there will be a new one, might be more beautiful and attractive, who knows.

Beautiful combination of nature and poetry!

You write beautifully, I think it must be inspired by nature itself and those wonderful flowers.

I have to choose? 3 and 5 are my favourites. 3 for its contrast with the background and 5 for the focus and closeness.

But today's poetry is beautiful!

You remind me of a book, I don't know if you read it, it's called "The Little Prince" by the author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

In his book it says something like this: The time you devoted to your rose is what made it so important.

I recommend this book to you, it is beautiful and very instructive.

Thank you Galen.✨

What a beautiful way to express admiration for the beauty of a flower and to be grateful for having been in your life.

So much sensitivity and feeling touches me.

Where I live I don't have adequate space or place for platas, although I have one in a pot. When I lived at my mom's house, hummingbirds always came to it, it was one of my favorites because of that.

That plant dried up because it was left to the neglect of those who currently live in that house, my mother always regrets it.

Once I went to the park and saw many of them, I asked permission (to the plant) and I brought a shoot home, I planted it and I am very happy because it is already giving its first flower. I am waiting for it to grow a little more to take it to my mother and also to keep a sprout for myself.

P. S.D : I saw the movie "Fatal Attraction", quite interesting. As you say, the man paid the price for what he did. He never imagined that what for him was an affair would bring him so much trouble, obsessions really can become dangerous.

And thank you very much for your support of my comments, I appreciate it very much. May you receive blessings 🤗

Or a person, huh?

It's nice of you to take a cutting of that plant and propogate it at home, it spreads nature a little further and I don't think the plant would have minded at all.

Oh you saw the movie? I only saw it once, many years ago, and don't remember all of it, only that it demonstrated that there certainly is a reaction to any of a person's actions and that happens in real life also.

Thank you for your kind comment.

I'm sure the plant liked the fact that I wanted to multiply it. My mother has the habit of talking to them before cutting any of them and I follow her example :)

Oh, by the way, I loved the idea of naming the flowers, I will think of one for the only one I have so far.

loved the idea of naming the flowers

I like to think they have personalities of their own, are individuals, so it makes sense they have names. I don't name every plant I have although a lot of them have names. 😊

Hmm, I wonder. 😶

There's often much more I say by not saying it than what I say by actually saying it. You know? (I think I just confused myself.) But then, other people write better than I do right?

I'm just kidding, I was hoping you would react. I think I'm getting to know you a little. 😅

You're both doing very well. But different. I'm just kidding, I'm very joking, so don't feel confused.

Oh, what can I tell you. Today we had the HiveCubaCon. It's been a busy day. Here I was thinking of writing about one of your excellent topics, but I came up with a poem.

I guess I'm hopeless. Saying more than I seem to be trying to say.

I heard about that Cuba thing, was it about onboarding new people or just a general meet up?

I think I'm getting to know you a little.

Maybe a little, but probably not as much as you think. I know people here who have known me for thirty years who think they know me too...They mostly don't. Just snippets. I think it's the same for most people.

Okay, I don't know you at all. 🤣 (True)

I only know a little bit of that demon possessed writing. And I imagine him, not you.

Hiverianos Meetup and was also attended by people interested in Blockchain. In fact, I was involved in onboarding. I will be a sponsor of three. Hahaha...this sometimes sounds like a cult. 😅

And the thing is, I missed the snacks. I don't know at what point it happened...because when I get passionate, I get diluted in time and space.
The result? I came home extremely hungry.

Grrrr (angry) (ah, because you think I'm like most people... nanananananana) 😁

Well, I'd say you see me a little more accurately than most, and that's not a bad thing; I don't mind really. It's good to interact with people who look little deeper than the basic words.

You missed the snacks? You're a nutbag! Never miss the snacks.

I hope those new people will come on board, learn the right ways to do things and thrive. I'm sure you'll let me know who they are once you're satisfied they are legit, and I'll be able to support them too.

Nope...I don't think you're like most people at all.

Of course.

I always give three basic pieces of advice: don't rush, observe, interact.

Then the complementary and equally important: one step at a time, don't compare, create from a state of enjoyment, without thinking about money.

(money is necessary but look how people do shit for money, I can't stand it).

Yep, making the process of posting/writing/photography the actual reward (in the mind) is the best thing. I did that from the outset and it meant I enjoyed it more. The monetary rewards will stem from there.

(money is necessary but look how people do shit for money, I can't stand it).

Agreed. People do some terrible things for it, here on Hive too.

Amazing color!
I am always fascinated by the myriad colours that show in my gardens each spring...
... some? Do not show, until now!

I have a Hydrangea... usually blooms in a very similar colour as Liina, each year. And yet, this january, it was so mild, that the plant started to get hundreds of blossoms. The tiny buds were killed only a few weeks later, when we got a HARD FREEZE, much more typical of New England Winters.
The bush looks fine, except it is missing it's hundreds of blossoms. Hopefully, all will be better, come next spring.

Hydrangeas are really cool, the foliage and blooms. I don't have any personally, but we have them here of course and I'll get some eventually. For me it's a space thing; I have quite a bit but I'm not one to like cluttered spaces so am quite strategic with what I bring in. Moving something out to bring in some hydrangeas is not on the cards just now.

They always seem like a happy plant to me, sort of bursting with energy. A shame yours were a little brutalised...would covering them have helped?

0

Covering? Probably not. The freeze was too deep. In the 30 years living here, this is my first time wiht this level of freeze and hydrangea issues.

Yeah, I get it...well I don't because my area doesn't have that problem, although we get frost and a nice little covering over the plants that are prone saves the day.
