Where Silence Resides, Photo Exhibition

avatar

It's unbelievable how many photos I have that have not been posted yet and it goes to show how much of a rush life is. There are so many events to post about, so many topics to discuss, but slowly and with some organizing, I'll get to the end of my folder cleaning. Hopefully.

Where silence resides.jpg

The exhibition I want to post about took place in 2023, called "Where silence resides". The title may seem strange as there's no dedicated place, where silence resides, but you'll see it's not just some words thrown on a poster. Wait and see.

Let's start with this photo, featuring an old lady in her village home. Without knowing the details, I suppose it's a typical one-room adobe house, where the lady has lived all her life. As we discussed in one of my recent post, some people can only see a crowded, outdated room, while others see decades of history and the whole life of this lady. Every item has a story and at her age, that's where silence resides. When I was a kid, I visited old people in the village where my grandmother lived and know first hand what these homes mean.

Another scene you see if you go deep into the countryside. Farmer with his "wealth", which means his two cows that provides him his living and his best friend, which is his dog. I love how the photographer framed the photo. God knows how many shots he has taken and selected this one to exhibit.

20230207_122540a.jpg

Moments of village life, but what I love here is the angle the photographer decided to take the shot. It makes the photo really interesting and unique as well. I like it.

20230207_122550a.JPG

Not my best shot and I don't know why I could hold the camera right (reflections maybe?), but the original photo is fantastic. I've always loved photos featuring peaks above the clouds, which is for in fact. I know the feeling first hand, I've been in a similar spot a few times, and there are photo about the events as well. It's an amazing feeling looking at the white blanket beneath your feet. That is another place where silence resides.

20230207_122559a.jpg

A similar shot, from higher this time. In my thoughts I call the photographers who take similar photos lucky, but luck has very little to do with these photos. Imagine climbing up cliffs, hills, trying to find the best spot and hoping the weather won't ruin their plans. This is not luck, this is hard work. I love this shot. The for and the light accentuate the beauty of the place.

20230207_122609a.jpg

Another shot, similar to the previous ones, just as spectacular as those. I hope I can take some shots like these one day, rather sooner, than later.

20230207_122628a.jpg

Coming from, or going to work. Not an office job and the stress level is not so high either, but life is tough.

20230207_122646a.jpg

Something is ... cooking.

20230207_122709a.jpg

These stalactite caves are a real gold mine for photographers, but the ones I visited, don't allow you to take photos. It's a real shame really, as the opportunity would be mind blowing, so I call the photographer lucky.

20230207_122718a.jpg

At the time of writing, I can't decide if we're looking at a dried lake, or a retraces flood, but the photo is exceptional. How the dried mud is cracked, the autumnal trees at the top of the photo, it's not every day you can capture such a scene. Lovely.

20230207_122743a.jpg

Another fantastic photo and choosing black and white is the best in these cases as colors take away from the beauty of it. That road with the wooden fence with barbed wire is a real beauty and the old lady just highlights the antiquity of the place. You have to have an eye to spot these scenes as most don't see anything special there.

20230207_122757a.jpg

Here on the other hand, you had to have some luck and act fast as well. So skills and luck are necessary I'd say. It's a fantastic shot.

Let me know if you have a favorite. I hope you can find one as there are many good ones this time. Every time basically as these are photos taken by the members of a photo club.

Last, but not least, now you can scroll back, have a look at the photos again and see if the title is appropriate, if you can see the meaning.

Amazing exhibition, thanks for shared it. The silence resides in so many places and in different ways. Definitely my favorite is the first one of the lady in her room, U can feel silence but also the echo of the stories that live between those walls 💙

That is very true, I fully agree with that statement.

You picked a very good one. That photo has a lot to say.

I agree, it's hard to pick as there were so many good ones, but what you chose is really lovely. Both have their own charm.

i have been on caves, they allowed photos as long as you don't use flash

Then you're lucky. I wasn't allowed to take photos.

When you are getting old and your heart is filled with the hustle and bustle of the world, then man makes nature his friend. And this is what I saw in this hymn: when man gets a little closer to nature, nature also gets closer to him. And when human nature and the nature of the environment meet, then the never-boring aspect of life begins. And nature is all such that the more a man explores it, the more he becomes immersed in it. But he never gets tired of exploring nature. The best way to entertain the heart is to be friends with nature, and this picture is a good example of that.

When you are getting old and your heart is filled with the hustle and bustle of the world, then man makes nature his friend.

Only those who have lived close to nature. Those who have spent their whole life in a concrete jungle will never grow close to nature.

This time it is very difficult to choose just one as my favourite, as the element that inhabits them, silence, is often important to me, and I could empathise with each of the situations depicted in the photographs, such as the old woman in the room, the people recording in the forest or countryside... all of them. But in those where there are no people, such as the mountain with fog... I said to myself, wow, what a pleasant feeling. They are all spectacular, but the ones about nature transported me. Thank you for that!🤗

I think I feel the same, however, I would go with nature as those places are absolutely amazing.

Happy Sunday! 🤗
