The Easter Fair

Yesterday I went to an Easter fair, to have a look at what they have to offer this time and to look for a present for a friend. I love these fairs as you can find craft products you can't find anywhere else.

Unfortunately the weather was terrible, I showed you the snow we got in my post yesterday, but that does not mean life has to stop. You just need to dress appropriately and try to do the best you can under these circumstances.

As I arrived to the fair, this huge bunny was sitting there, I suppose his or her job was to greet visitors, but that Euro-pallet she was sitting on looked awful. Organizers should have thought better and found a nicer solution. Poor bunny was freezing.

Then I saw this big spider. How cool is that! I hate spiders by the way, but this was harmless :)

These paintings were painted on eggshells. I've been admiring these works for years at different fairs and would love to see the woman creating one painting in front of me. This art is not cheap. The smaller paintings on the left were at 70€, the big, vertical flower theme one was at 200€. The folk dancers under the still life was at 80€. And the flower garland was at 110€.

I took a close-up photo for you to see the details.

They had religious themed paintings too. Some prefer these in their home.

Collection of still life.

This is where I started to smile. Remember my post about the mărțișoare? Here I showed you these brooches with a red-white string attached, dedicated to the 1st of March, which is to celebrate spring. I found them interesting, but did not buy any as I bought some pendants I was chasing for 3 years instead.

Yesterday I saw these brooches, this time without the red-white string attached and knew that was my chance to buy one, and I did.

20230407_192249a.jpg

I came home with this beauty and I love it.

20230406_121831a.jpg

These were also brooches, ladies in folk costumes, all hand painted.

I'm not particularly crazy about heart shaped jewelry, but I saw a few good ones here. Maybe at the next fair I can buy one :D

20230406_121849a.jpg

Magnets can never be missing from any fair. These were quite cheap, 1€ each.

20230406_121857a.jpg

More magnets of different style. Couples in folk costumes, all hand painted, at 5€ each.

It was an Easter fair, so let me show you see some Easter decorations. I took some photos to show you what was available, but I'm not a huge fan honestly. We don't decorate the house at Easter.

20230406_122055(0)a.jpg

This bunny with that huge carrot looked cute. It was at 10€.

20230406_122120a.jpg

The 3 lavender ladies. Here I saw some cool handmade soap, but was extremely expensive and made of lavender.

20230406_122400a.jpg

20230406_122402a.jpg

There's no Easter without painted Easter eggs, so there were 3 boxes full of painted eggs. Some had strings attached as at some parts of Transylvania (Hungary as well), people are hanging eggs on branches or outside on the trees during Easter. We don't have that tradition.

20230406_122410a.jpg

I'm not a fan of these very colorful eggs, I prefer the old, traditional eggs and that is why I opted for those.

20230407_214002a.jpg

I chose these eggs and bought them. These are wooden eggs and hand painted. The old tradition was about painting real eggs. Some are still doing that, but empty eggshells are very fragile, so I prefer these wooden eggs. I wish I could paint like that.

So this was the Easter market. I mean the market was way bigger, there were many sellers and products, but these were the ones that interested me.

Have you ever seen such Easter eggs or decorations? How do you celebrate Easter? Let me know in a comment.

Easter is not celebrated in my country. That's why I can't say anything about how it is celebrated but I liked the 3 lavender ladies. The prices are expensive in Turkish lira but not that much in euro. I would like to buy one magnet as a souvenir, my mom likes this kind of stuff.

Those lavender ladies were cute for sure. These prices are most likely expensive in many countries. I wish I could send your mom a magnet. Maybe soon.

Thank you so much that would be great but it will cost a lot to you probably so no need. It's kind of you to even think about it 😇

How beautiful everything is! In my country (Cuba), we don't celebrate like this, so thank you very much for bringing this experience here and allowing us all to enjoy it.

My pleasure. How do you celebrate in Cuba? What events do you celebrate?

What i meant was that here in Cuba we don't celebrate that date since we don't have it as a tradition
