Photo Practice
Slowly it comes the day when the only two option I will have regarding photography will be black and white and macro. Not only days are getting shorter and shorter, the sun becomes a rarity as well. This morning we woke up to a thick fog, which is not usual here, but there are a few foggy days each November. I'm not sure is we're experiencing those days already, or this is just a coincidence though. After a few hours the sun came out, which was the clear indicator to get myself out of the house and go take some photos.
In a way I don't mind as I've been planning to get better at both categories and now that there's nothing left, I can make the most of it and that's what I did today. I went to get my parcel and in the way there and back, kept my eyes open and took some photos, half of which I deleted when I came home. Yes, hat's right, a little breeze can mess with you big time. Good thing we're working digitally, so you don't have to waste rolls of films and end up with nothing because none of the shots were good enough.
Today my only goal was to take clear photos, nothing more. Dry flowers and leaves are available still at this time of the year and as roses are quite resistant to the cold (at least these are), you can still find buds and half dried ones too.
To give you an idea about what happened today, I took like 5 - 6 shots of everything, while the breeze was working against me. This means of those 5 - 6 photos one is usable, or two. But to look at the bright side, there's only one dry rose that I can't post as all the photos are blurry.
I'm really curious to see how these photos would look once the post is posted on Hive. I don't know if you've noticed, but photos are always bigger on Hive and I love that.
I took 15 shots of this leaf and if I want to be honest, maybe 3 are usable. I wanted to capture the first part of the leaf, that is rolled upwards, with the macro lens. It seemed like a good idea. You may wonder why I had to take 15 shots and what the others look like as it seems obsessive. So let me show you some of the other shots.
This was not because I could not focus on the subject, of my hand was shaking. It is frustrating but funny as well.
This leaf has found its place here.
Then I saw this leaf, with those puncture marks, looking like eyes. Too bad there was no symmetry there, but maybe that is a good thing. I'm calling this the leaf with eyes 👀.
Now look at these two photos. You see the same leaf, but the photos are taken with different lenses. The first is the regular lens, the second is with the macro lens. I need to mention that these leaves are tiny.
Soooooo, you know the drill 😂 Which one is your favorite?

because I'm a lover of macrophotography I'm interested in the details of the macros you got and may I know what did you use in those details?
And of course, macro shooting details are a bit complicated, right?
What details are you interested exactly?
one detailed macro picture of leaf rolls that you get in one picture above, looks so interesting :)
I'm glad you like it and yes, macro is a bit complicated.
hehe keep the spirit and greetings from me @deltasteem from Indonesia hope you are always healthy there :)
I can totally relate! I took a walk into the forest today, taking advantage of a sunny day and on my way I saw a huge spiderweb with its queen posing in the middle for the picture. I tried and tried, but my phone camera just wouldn’t focus enough to take a good picture. In the end I gave up and walked away to find some easier targets. I’m not a photographer, but I might get myself those macro lenses too.
Love the rose captures and that curled leaf 💙
Lol, been there, done that and it's not funny. It's quite frustrating to know you have a nice spider web with a spider and you can't take a decent photo. But never give up! Never!
I had to 😂 I was trespassing someone’s garden for that and I was worried someone will shout at me if I stay there any longer 😂🙈
That was me! When did you take that picture? 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 See? Big Brother is always watching!

The 11th photo would be my favorite. You captured it so nicely that it is an attention seeker. Basically, telling commanding someone to look at it. Simple yet an attention seeker.
Lol, I'm glad you feel that way.
Thank you!
You're welcome :)
I don’t get what you mean here.
Lol I can relate to the 15 shots of the blurry leaf though. I had a similar experience one time when I tried to shoot a lady bug dangling on a small leaf branch due to wind. And in the end, I realized all my shots were live photos so it made it easier to get a couple of nice pictures because I was now working with several sets of images in each picture of the multiple shots.
Oh and that leaf with eyes, I wouldn’t have noticed it if you didn’t mention it. If that other hole in the middle was aligned properly, it would show a nose and a mouth too. A complete leaf with a face. That’s definitely my favorite!
I guess we have all went through such expensive when you take 15 photos and can barely select one that is half decent, it comes with the territory when you're taking photos outside.
The leaf with eyes was funny. But don't expect symmetry from mother nature.
My favorite is leaf with eyes. It looks cool. I'm not taking too much photos lately. Because I can't find something worth to take.
The leaf is really cool. How come you can't find anything interesting? Open your eyes man! 😂
I'm working on it hahaha. I'm trying but it's not easy you knowww
If it would be easy, everyone would be a professional photographer 📸
My favorite hehe, nice practice
Naah, that's not what we do :)
Why not? It was fun
you know what people say, pratice makes perfection!!
i have been praticing with photography for 2 years now too, i also consume online courses, that helps really much too but the main thing is just practice!
Practice and a good device. I'm not saying mine is good, but it helps a lot to have a good one. You can have the best knowledge and experience, but you need a good camera too.
yeah it is really true!!
When you already have a high level of experience and knowledge, a point is reached where you need a better camera to be able to take the photos you have in mind, it can be said that a low quality one is not enough for what you know how to do.

Thanks.
Hi @erikah! I was fascinated by those pictures they have an impressive sharpness.
I'm really glad to hear that, thank you!
🤗
I love love the second slide.
How neat and clear it came out.🙂
And the sun was at it favour 🙃🙃
Indeed the sun was working for me that day as otherwise taking good photos is impossible.
True.
You did a nice one there.
