A Snowy Walk Among the Beeches

There wasn't any snow in my village this morning, but I could see there had been a layer up on the hills. I can't resist taking photographs of snow, so I drove just ten minutes away, and there it was. The roads were clear, though, so the driving conditions were fine. I parked up and first entered the little copse.

Normally, it's not very interesting in there, but a sprinkling of snow changes everything. I love the colour contrast of the orange leaves of the small beech trees to the white of the snow.

I then crossed over the road. I guess the blue sign tells you where I'm going!

I'm always careful when crossing because it's a fast road. Drivers come over the brow of the hill quite quickly. I managed to get over safely.

I followed the footpath along the avenue of beech trees, next to the stone wall. It was nice to have the whole area to myself.

Over the fields, I could see the mist on the horizon. You can't beat a little bit of mist coupled with snow. I'm a cold weather person. They always say you like the season you were born in. I was born in October, so I quite like winter. However, even I have got fed up with the constant rain and gloom. A little bit of snow has been a welcome change.

Unfortunately, it was bitterly cold. The cold air took my breath away at times. It wasn’t long before I had to head back home and into the warmth.
