The first photos taken with my new lens

My new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 came in a couple days ago and I was pretty excited to get out and start testing it out. The first thing I did with it was just walk around outside my home and take shots of different things.
These types of photos aren't my normal type of photography. I really like the way that the lens really blurs out the backgrounds. With it being an f/2.8, the aperture can get pretty wide, but when you have a large aperture like this and use a telephoto, the background really blurs out a lot more than using a shorter lens. It is a pretty cool effect. These lenses are great for portraits because they can really make your subject stand out.
The last two days of the firefighter challenge have been a bit of a challenge for me and I was not able to get any pictures of them racing. Yesterday, I got there 3 hours early because the start time changed and by the time the opening ceremony was done, I was ready to leave. There were also a ton of people there and getting up close to get photos would have been impossible. I did get some good shots of the opening ceremony and I will be sharing them in the future.
It is always fun to get new lenses and learn how they work. Each type of lens requires some practice to be able to really show off what it can do. Thanks for stopping by and checking out these photos. I can't wait to get more used to this lens and improve my photos with it in the future.

Great first shots… yep, it takes a bit to really get to know what it can do.
I think you will have loads of fun with your new lens.
To bad the times changes of the event and to many people around. It can make things challenging.
Looking forward to seeing more later 😁👋🏻
Enjoy your weekend further @derangedvisions 😎
Ya, I have wanted this lens for a while. I was debating on the Canon version or this one but went with the cheaper or the two. I used the Canon 70-200 during my travels for the book I helped publish, but I only shot portraits with it back then. So it will be fun to play around with different styles now.
That’s cool.
Aawww so you had it for a while for portraits that will help for sure. It will be so much fun now to explore what it truly can do in all ranges. And what you want to shoot yourself.
I bought with my new camera 3 weeks ago, a 24-105mm lens… my old one was 18-135mm so slightly different. I do notice the difference already. Used the new gear since a few weeks now. Still playing around as the whole system is new and such an upgrade from my 10 year old previous gear.
Have a great evening!
Congrats on the new gear. The 24-105 is a great lens and one that I use almost daily.
Thank you so much, so happy with it already. 😁😎
That’s cool to hear. It turns out to be rather versatile.
Will extend with other lenses later on. Will have to figure out what would be nice additions. 🤓
it was always on my whish list, never in the bag. now that i went to mirrorless i would probably have to wait to see will Sigma manage to make RF lenses. Price of canon is just, well :D
How are you liking the mirror less? I’ve thought about switching but don’t want to start over with new lenses.
there are 2 lenses that i have and kinda could no use (they are for the cropped sensor). 10-18mm canon and sigma 18-35mm (i can use them but only max zoomed).
All the full frame lenses work fine on it with an adapter. i use 85mm a lot and had no problems.
This is my first full frame so maybe i am a bit bias. i do like it. it is not small body but you feel that it is lighter. They did a lot with AF and with stabilization. sometimes you think that R6 20 Megapixel is not enough but there were rare rare occasion where i thought that maybe i would need more to be able to crop. But that is more because my longest lens is 85mm :D
I am not sure but i think you do have 5d IV? if that is the case in your place i would maybe wait a bit to see what new will be out in the next year or so. Especially if you don't do a lot of video.
Wow such a great shot you’ve taken. Looking forward to more. Also I’m new here if you got some time check out my content as well. I would really appreciate that.
Thanks. Welcome to Hive.

It's a given.
Sigma lens are top tier. It's on my wishlist this one
Thanks man. I don't know about hall of fame or anything. Sigmas are super nice lenses and quite a bit cheaper than their Canon versions.

This is really clear and lovely. The moon will be very pleased to be in the collection of your sigma 70-200mm.
I hope it is not expensive.
The lens is $1500 which is about $700 less than the Canon version.
I love these colours and the dandelion too 🤍
Thank you. I am glad you liked them.
Every time I see your posts I learn things about photography. As you said it blurs the background and that makes your objects more stunning. Look at these yellow leaf and blossoms, it's just amazing.
Glad I could teach you something. Thanks for stopping by homie.
Wow, the level of display of the object is amazing and really makes up for everything that is behind the object. Even the moon photo looks different.
Great fisrt shots
Hopefully, it will make it easier for you.
It was cool to get a shot of the moon like that during the daytime.
nice photo's

These images and their editing are great. Congratulations on the new lens. The focal length in fixed lenses is much less and these lenses are great for portraits. But your lens is also excellent. I also like the telephoto lens very much.
Thank you. This lens is pretty nice.
I have Tamron 70-200 f2.8. Great piece if lens. Unfortunately my stabilization motor failed. I have no idea how expensive does it get to fix it.
I was looking at the Tamron as well when I purchased this one. I think my next lens is going to be the Tamron 150-600. I had that one a few years ago when I went to Africa and it worked great.
Yeah, 150-600 is awesome. I just borrowed it and tried planetary photography. Even got something. Moon shots with it are awesome too!
That’s so cool
Beautiful photos. Love them all
Thanks homie.
Beatiful photos! I love the colors!
new toys are always a good reason to go out and shoot pictures :) , looks like the lens has some nice bokeh.
